“Tired, unloved, disappointing”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

We were greeted by filthy sheets, no television service, deep fried food, a boot room that the staff couldn't unlock and demoralised staff who shared our frustration about the state of the hotel. None of the other guests had anything positive to say about the hotel and even the ski rental company had heard nothing but complaints. Maybe the near monopoly in hotel terms made the management complacent? Either way, I would urge people not to visit.

Hotel rooms remain in the same 1980's style with ripped carpet , uggly massive tv screen and no ipod dock . I was awarded a luxurious room charged 400 euros per night .... What a surprise when you see the tiny room !! I was in shock as the quality of the amenities are so poor , the bathroom is so old fashion .... And the food , forget about it everything is overpriced and cheap as hell !! Worst, for new year's eve as i was staying with half board pension i have been told that I had to add 90 euros per meal to cover the exceptional meal party .... They forget to serve one course meal !!!!
So Christophe Leroy who runs this venue , please stop beeing so griddy as you are ruining your reputation with such a poor quality service , hotel facility and dreadfully cheap food !!!
In conclusion please avoid this hotel as you will be extremely disapointed !

Room Tip: Avoid this hotel

We just spent a week in Avoriaz and tried to have diner at Les Dromonts.
The food is just terrible-i tried 10 years ago and was already disappointed — but this time I think they reached the bottom.
The service is well below standards, dirty bathroom, no paper in toilets ( and when asking, the staff had to go to mens room to find some for my daughter , yes you read correctly !!!)
During diner, one of our guests received — probably as a present...— a coca cola on her sweater.…

While on holiday in Avoriaz recently with my wife and kids we decided to have a look at the Hotel des Dromonts as a possible venue for next year. We went in the early evening (6.30ish) for a drink in the bar and to ask whether we could look at a room. Firstly, it was very tatty outside, with cheap, non-matching plastic chairs on the terrace. The main door to the hotel was locked and there was no sign of life inside, but we found a side door by the bar open and went in. There was one other group in the bar area but no staff. We found a seat and after 5 minutes a barman wandered in. After another few minutes he noticed us and brought bar menus. The prices were high but not out of kilter for the very best mountain hotels. We ordered two vodka tonics and a jug of tap water. We were brought two of the most revolting vodka tonics I have ever tasted - cheap vodka (Arnoloff, it turned out), cheap warm tonic, one small ice cube and a couple of mashed up dry slices of lemon, one of which fell out of the glass onto the table as the drink was served and left there by the barman - and a half litre bottle of Evian. We paid E14 per vodka and E8 for the Evian. As I said before, over the top prices for a normal bar but in line with 5 star hotel prices. Unfortunately this was not 5 star quality of drink or service. We were offered no complimentary nuts or nibbles, as would be a matter of course in a top hotel. The barman took no further interest in our wellbeing and we had to go and find a member of staff when we wanted to pay and leave.
I cannot comment on the rooms or the quality of stay at this hotel, but on the basis of the drink we decided it was a waste of time to even consider looking at a room or staying here in the future.

A group of a dozen of us stayed here for a week and very much enjoyed our time. The Hotel has very strange architecture, both inside and out - even by French Alpine standards - and my room didn't seem to have a straight line or right angle in it.
The bedrooms had the usual failings of French Hotels with low beds and 20W light bulbs which make reading in bed impossible but otherwise perfectly clean and satisfactory. The bathrooms were also clean and well appointed with nice toiletries and lashings of hot water - very welcome.
The public spaces were very nice but the food was outstanding. We had the fixed menu every night and every single dish was faultless. The wine list was not very inspiring and rather pricey. The staff were polite and extremely helpful.
The location was good, near the centre of the village and easy to ski and out which is a real bonus

Visited 2 years ago; had a great meal with fab service. Spent a week there over New Year. Very disappointed with the rooms (too small; poorly serviced). Food not hot enough; average quality; but good service. Breakfast same every day; poorly run; poor quality.
Public areas (bar) very nice; good service.
Reception staff ok.
Good location.
Wouldnt bother to go back.
Doubtful would seek out M Leroys other establishments if this is an example of his standards.
