“We're already planning our return”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

We have just returned from our stay at Chalet Guytaune in Morzine and are already scheming on a return visit. Our group consisted of 7 occasionally exacting, frequently rowdy, young(ish) blokes, who may have tried the patience of less easygoing, cool and considerate hosts. Cris, Ash and Katy were absolutely amazing all week and accommodated all of our various dietary quirks, drunken shenanigans and general faffing around.

Chalet Guytaune is situated perfectly to take in the surrounding mountain scenery while supping a beer in the hot tub. From the outside the chalet looks like something from a Hans Christian Andersen fairytale. The inside is absolutely stunning and has all the small luxurious extra touches that made our stay really comfortable and homely - flat screen TV with UK channels, cushions, log fire, sauna, iPod docks in every room and even a poker set! The bedrooms are all en-suite and with the exception of the quad room have their own balconies. The cozy theme continues in the bedrooms with cushions, lamps, artwork and other little personal touches that really make a difference.

The food, oh the food! It is evident that the menu has been meticulously thought out and practiced to perfection, as every meal seemed to surpass the last. From melt in the mouth lamb, to tender duck, perfectly cooked fish and a gorgeous beef wellington - every meal was delectable.

The Portes Du Soleil ski area is enormous and far too big to fully explore in one week (another reason to return). As Morzine is a relatively short transfer from Geneva we managed to ski on the afternoon of our arrival. RideandSlide arranged it so lift passes and equipment were waiting for us at the chalet! Special mention must go to the Lindarets area on The Avoriaz side and also the Mont Chery area on the Les Gets side of the PDS. We were a group of boarders and skiers of mixed ability and found the area had something for us all.

In summary a perfect chalet, perfect hosts, perfect food and perfect ski area. We will definitely be back!

Just got back from a stay at Chalet Guytaune and having to fight the strong temptation to turn around and get on the next plane straight back out! Booked as a single female traveller with a few trepidations about staying in the intimate setting of a chalet where the other guests knew each other, but they proved to be completely unfounded, as from the minute I arrived at Geneva, the team couldn't have made me more comfortable, and I couldn't have asked for a nicer bunch of other guests to stay with.

The chalet itself is gorgeous, a traditional gingerbread-house, perched on a hill overlooking Morzine. Inside it's sheer luxury, a big open fire and chill out area, a huge wooden table for meal times (perfect for swapping stories about the day's exploits over), and a gorgeous open plan kitchen where you can see the team preparing the meals and doing their thing. Bedrooms are roomy, luxurious, and inviting - I wish I had spent more time in mine! The whole chalet is glowingly clean and warm and the hot tub is the cherry on the cake with its views out across the valley - the chalet guys will even bring you a glass of wine or beer to chill out with even further!

The real stars of the show though, are Cris, Ash and Katie - they couldn't have done more to make sure every single need was looked after. Nothing was too much trouble, and no request impossible...they're a great, approachable and resourceful team - always interested in how your day went and whether there's anything they can do to make it better. They're also great fun and good company, ready with a story or two of their own.

I have to dedicate a paragraph to the food which was absolutely exceptional - like dining out at a 5* restaurant every night, but better as it was in your own home! Every night there was a 3 course meal, freshly prepared and cooked in front of you - from handmade pasta to rosemary lamb, and the attention to detail on every element was amazing. The cakes when you get in from a day on the slopes were delicious and far too easy to eat too many of...sorry Ash! Every day there was a different breakfast, from French Toast to Eggs Benedict, with plentiful pain au chocolat, porridge and fresh bread. You'll certainly never go hungry here.

The skiing itself is brilliant, the lifts are a little way from the chalet, but the team will drop you off and pick you up so it causes no problems. The area is huge - the most extensive I've visited, and there's something for everyone; the tree lined blues are particularly enjoyable. Well worth a go is picking a route through the Stash, skiing over to Switzerland, and being on the first lift up to the Rainfollies area on a sunny morning - absolute poetry.

I will without a doubt be back, as soon as possible!

An outstanding team at Chalet Guytaune. Ash, Cris and Katy were perfect hosts - flexible, generous with their time and very very attentive.

The chalet is very comfortable and well equipped with spacious rooms. A hot tub and sauna were there at the end of the day to help with the aches of the day and the view from the hot tub was fabulous. The team were flexible and always ready to help and the place was spotless all week.

Be ready to put on lots of weight as the food is superb - each course is served beautifully plated up and is introduced by Cris. If you love cheese then the cheese board is to die for! With innovative canapes, great cocktails, lovely wine what more could you ask for?

The pre holiday support from Jonathan was brilliant as well.

We loved our first experience with Ride & Slide. You'd be very hard pushed to find better. Go on book with them - you know you want to!

We have just returned from an amazing week at Chalet Guytaune and the holiday blues are setting in!

The chalet was beautiful and spacious. What really made our holiday though was Ash, Cris and Katy. I spent a lot of time in the chalet with our 5 month old son and by the end of the holiday felt like they were part of the group! The food was fantastic everyday and we loved the pre dinner cocktails.

Chalet organisation with Lisa and Jonathan was really quick and easy with prompt emails to and fro.

Thanks all for such a great week and for all that you did for us.

I helped organise for 14 of us to ski from this Chalet. As with any large group, we had many questions from those going, and last minute substitutions and requirements. All emails were dealt with promptly by Jonathan so we arrived well prepared and informed.

Having three staff for a chalet of this size makes a real difference. It allows the chef to cook without having to help out with demands for peppermint tea at the peak of dinner prep! The food was extremely high quality - not a student following an instruction manual, nor menus designed to impress on the first and last day but save money in between. Consistently impressive three course meals every night; a cheese, egg and ham pancake for breakfast one morning to die for; and I can't give away the grand finale but it was extremely impressive.

I celebrated a milestone birthday while there, and the best, moistest chocolate cake you can imagine was personally inscribed to me.

Apart from that, we were a young group, and possibly kept the staff awake a little more than they're used to - but they never complained about our noise. They diligently took us to and from the slopes when needed, often with times and locations switched by us late in the day. What set them out was their attention to detail; they clearly cared that we were having the best time possible and never missed an opportunity to help ensure this happened.

I've no hesitation in recommending this chalet, its management and current staff extremely highly, and I would imagine I will be one of 14 equally positive reviews on here from our group.

Ash, Cris and Katy were just amazing. We were very awkward customers having a horrendously late arrival and early departure, but they made sure this was catered for. We had soup when we arrived at 1am and were left flapjacks and croissants for our departure at 3am! Just a little example of them going the extra mile.

For the whole week, they made sure there wasn't anything we could want, very attentive. The food was amazing, restaurant standard, and always something different.

The chalet was always clean and tidy, nothing beats a hot tub when you get back from the slopes, and in the morning when you wake up and can't move!

The chalet is a little way out from the main lifts, but the team were always flexible with pick ups and drop offs, there are buses though if the pick ups don't suit, and as a back up its only a 20 minute walk anyway.

Morzine is a lovely resort, this chalet is amazing and the team are great. Just book it now as you won't find a better deal.

What can I say, Chris, Ash & Katie were on top form catering to our every whim, we really felt looked after. Also they created a nice and relaxed atmosphere in the evenings which felt like a home from home, which we know can be hard to find in a luxury Chalet. Food was amazing, service amazing and the location was perfect looking out over the valleys. Chris was very thoughtful and even suggested a pampering day for our Ladies when we scooted off for a boys hack!

The attentive nature of the staff made you feel as if any request would never be too difficult (small spoons Chris!)

Overall fantastic holiday, great staff and a friendly environment in which to socialise with other guests ( who were all lovely by the way). Would highly recommend to anyone especially if you have never been to morzine as its Savoyard charm really tops it off.

Minor comments- hot tub change over day was done on Saturday meaning not availble on our last evening( after the hardest day we had)- there was however the sauna and mulled wine to make up for it !

Light options for evening meals as although fantastic food - very rich.

But these are really minor niggles as it was a great holiday experience overall, thanks guys - we will be back again for sure!!!

Room Tip: Top level rooms for quietness, lower level rooms for tall chaps (very low ceilings upstairs).

Thanks so much for the feedback and its great to know the team at Ride & Slide made your holiday so enjoyable.

Its great to know year on year we are keeping up our standards and creating great holidays for great guests. In regards to the hot tub we generally don't change the water on the last day of the holiday its usually first thing the following morning on changeover day. However on this occasion the hot tub had been affected by chemicals in the water from shampoo or body wash so unfortunately we could not leave it to be used that evening. I hope Chris's mulled wine helped to soothe your aches and pains....

Thanks again for being great guests and your fantastic feedback

See you next year!
