“Chalet L'Atelier- Fantastic NYE 2012”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

Myself and a party of 9 (age range from 19 - 60) stayed at Chalet L'Atelier for the week of NYE 2012, we had the most fantastic time and Jenny and Mike were fantastic. Their service, the dinners, the breakfasts and the cakes were all top notch. The Chalet was super clean, really homely and we all loved our stay. Jenny and Mike are a credit to the Mountain Mavericks team. The service from Emma and the rest of MM was fantastic too, from the morning pick ups by Chris to the Apres Ski bus service; everyone in my party had a fabulous time!
Would highly recomend to all!

Our second fabulous stay in chalet le prele with 10 of us in all in the family! Nothing was too much trouble for all of the mountain mavericks team and we felt thoroughly spoilt! The attention to detail of the whole holiday was great. We ate exceedingly well...thanks to Tom and Jen and were chauffeured around to ski school, which was a pleasure. The only bad thing about our holiday was coming home!

Chalet Le Prele was recommended to us by friends who had previously stayed for Christmas week and we weren't disappointed.

On our arrival at the Chalet, we were met by the lovely Jen & Tom who immediately made us feel at home. The accomodation is not only beautiful but spotlessly clean. Although spacious, it feels very cosy (and very warm). We decided not to light the lovely log burner most evenings as it was just too warm.

Tom's cooking was fantastic and our children even ate things that they would never even consider at home. Great breakfasts, wonderful cakes baked each morning and delicious evening meals. We chose to eat together as a family each evening but the option was there for children to eat earlier if needed. Christmas dinner was everything you would expect and we all enjoyed a great day thanks to Jen & Tom's hospitality.

Unfortunately, our daughter was unwell for most of her stay but she was very well looked after. Nothing too much trouble. Thanks also go to Chris for getting hold of the XBox - and also for arranging some extra ski lessons at very short notice.

As we were all new to skiing, we found Morzine to be a great location for starting out - but it also offers many, many more areas to explore. Nearby areas such as Les Gets and Avoriaz for example.

The transfers to and from the slopes were extremely helpful, but the free bus service is literally 2 mins away and they run every 10 mins - a pretty efficient service (unless they're full which did happen once).

Although Le Prele is a short drive from the main hub of Morzine, personally we felt this was a positive point. It was very quiet at all times of day and night and we can imagine that the main town could get a little noisy!

Jen managed to find some little sledges for us which were enjoyed nearby the Chalet - where snowman building also took place. Not often you can actually build a Snowman on Christmas Day!

The only negative aspect was that the hot tub was out of action. However, it was understandable that Christmas week was not the easiest time to source spare parts and we put it down to 'one of those things'. Emma and Olly were extremely apologetic regarding this and passed on several gifts by way of an apology.

We have already booked to go back next year!

We stayed at Le Prele in February and have got to say it was one of the best ski holidays that we have ever had.

We had some trepidation as we were 2 families travelling with 2 children under 2, but Emma from MM was on hand prior to our departure to answer any questions and to answer any queries. They even provided 'baby kits' so we didn't have to worry about taking nappies, wipes or nappy bags! Cots and highchairs were also available and Emma arrived on our first evening with their spare pram and a big bag of toys.

Le Prele is split on 3 levels so there are a couple of sets of stairs - stair gates are a must!!

The accommodation is lovely, although can get a bit noisy if you get the room on the middle floor (next to the dining/seating area) - it is the master bedroom though so there are pluses and minuses!
The downstairs bedrooms are ok too - although they tend to keep the door unlocked, so we requested it be locked as we had a child sleeping in the room downstairs and you can't see the front door or bedroom from the dining area (this is not to panic anyone, crime is relatively low but you just can't be too careful).

The food was excellent at the chalet too - they obviously put a lot of thought into the menu and it is of a really high standard. They also catered well for the children and provided meals at 5pm. Everything was accessible to us too, so we could easily get everything we needed if the chalet hosts weren't around.

In terms of access to skiing - fabulous!! You can access Morzine, Avoriaz, Les Gets to name a few. Ski buses stop outside the chalet (route D) or a 2 min walk away on the main road (route A). Route A's are a bit more frequent and quicker into the centre of Morzine. The bus back at the end of the day are infrequent after 6pm and can be busy (the bus driver won't stop if its full!). The only struggle we had with the bus was taking a pram on board - they are coaches rather than buses so it was difficult to say the least - the locals have collapsible pushchairs.

Morzine itself is great on non-ski days and there is plenty to do. You can get up the mountain in the main bubble lift and do some sledging on the designated slope! Hire of the sledges (shop at the bottom of the lift) was only €3 for the day.

My only 'moans' about it would be the number of changeovers in the week - with a close proximity to the airport, there were a number of people coming out for mini-breaks so there were quite a number of different people throughout the week. My only other comment would be that there is only one bath in the chalet, on the top floor - luckily the week we were there, the family staying in those rooms was kind enough to let us use it. The separate lounge area on teh top floor is directly outside the rooms up there too so not really a separate space for little ones to play etc (probably ok for older children to watch TV or play on Playstation though).

All in all, a great stay. We will be back for more!

Having already had a fabulous week with friends 28-4th Feb, my husband David & I returned for another week a month later. The hosts Jenna & Ed were lovely, the food excellent, yummy cakes, a real home from home experience. The rooms are spacious and have good storage space compared to other chalets I've stayed in. The service from Emma & Olly was second to none, their personal & friendly attitude, attention to detail and organisation made our stay delightful. I can't thank Jenna, Ed, Emma & Olly enough for two fantastic weeks! Can't wait to come back…. Oh and the skiing was brilliant too!

Just returned from our 3rd year at Chalet Le Prele. As always it has been fanatastic. The chalet is one of the best i have come across in any French ski resort. Beautifully decorated and comfortable. The chalet hosts this year Ed and Jenna are fabulous and the food was excellent. You really dont want for anything - from your cup of tea in bed in the morning to dinner in the evening ( complete with cheese lesson from Ed) you are completely looked after. The ski bus stops across the road taking you to either Avoriaz or Morzine slopes and the snow is fab this year, Mountain Mavericks are a great company to book with and nothing is too much trouble. I would strongly recommend it to anyone and look forward to our trip next year!

Just returned from a superb one week holiday in Chalet Le Prele. Absolutely faultless. The chalet hosts Ed and Jenna were suberb - the quality of food each day was far better than we experienced in the restaurants! Attention to detail and service really made our holiday and the chalet was gorgeous. Short walk to the bus stop taking you direct to Avoriaz, regular buses every 10 minutes. We will be returning!
