1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2014

We've travelled all around Europe for the past four weeks and found this place to be the worst.
Dirty room, wet carpet, no bath towels, very very small room only just fits a double bed and we itched most of the night??????? You wouldn't want to be too short or you wouldn't be able to step up into the bath/shower. No I wouldn't recommend this place. Just terrible.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

Away from town centre adjacent to shopping centre with giant Auchan supermarket and various eateries. Room as expected and illuminated free parking on site. Staff average. Despite the huge shopping centre around the corner, the setting is quiet.

No baby cot was provided in the room when we arrived, despite numerous attempts to ensure one would be there.
The room was tiny, dated and scruffy - in fact the hotel in general was a bit old and worn. The bed was very comfortable but with the child cot eventually installed, we were pretty crammed in.
Considering this room was more expensive, much smaller, and less modern than the one we booked for the outward journey (Premier Inn Newhaven), it was very disappointing overall.
Not bad for access to the ferry port (although not the closest) and the staff were friendly enough, but the main problem was with the booking (and trying to secure the baby cot); bit of an epic, so get comfortable...

Booked this hotel online via TripAdviser, which redirected me to the website for the international operators of the Ibis chain (AccorHotels). Booking the room was no problem via this site, except when it came to getting the cot in the room. Since there was no option to order this via the website, I called the free support line. After a tricky few minutes trying to identify the hotel to the call centre operator (spelling out each word in the address one letter at a time), I was advised that there should be an option on the booking form after all, and to (a) make a complaint via the website, and (b) call the hotel direct and secure the cot that way.
However, (a) didn't work out because the complaint form on the website was also knackered (and another call to the call centre to complain about the complaint form went about as well as you'd expect).
And as for (b), rather than call the hotel and risk a multilingual misunderstanding, I thought that since we were passing the hotel on our way down to our destination, I'd stop in en route instead and sort out the cot face to face. Which I did, and was assured by the receptionist face-to-face that it would be there, I thought that was that, but no.

The issue seems to be one of chain of responsibility - no-one I spoke to has any immediate responsibility, it's too easy for them to fob you off. Which means the poor overworked receptionist who's present on the day you turn up to stay has to deal with the problem there and then.

Room Tip: Fine for basic travel with no special requirements
