“Le New Haven Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

We visited the New Haven on a recommendation and were not disappointed. The food was superb, we both chose the 19 euros menu and we both enjoyed our meal very much. The service was excellent and we didn't wait too long in between courses. We would definately use this restaurant again if we visit Dieppe.

“Patchy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

We ordered from the 23 euro Menu. Our starters and puddings were freshly prepared and good quality, but the main courses disappointed. Both appeared to be frozen and microwaved, and my wife's was only warm in the centre. Both of the main dishes lacked flavour. Prices were reasonable, and service was fine.

“Fresh and tasty???”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

While visiting Dieppe last july, we looked for advice on restaurants through Tripadvisor.
seeing the positive reviews here, we choose New Haven.
We quickly got served by the staff, who were friendly. My wife ordered the salmon with sorral sauce and I ordered the shrimps singed with whisky.
We immediately got our drinks and bread. And then it all went wrong. The bread (baguette) was stale. I even found a toasted piece in the basket. Clearly this bread was already served onto another table.
About ten minutes later our dishes were served. The shrimps I got where clearly not fresh nor cleaned. They were over done and tasted dry. The salmon was also over done and tasteless.
The sorral sauce came straight out of a bag or freezer. It was NOT home-made. Both our dishes were accompanied by two spoonfuls of (dry, undercooked and tasteless) rice and stewed apples on the side. The apples were sweet and spiced with cinnamon. I never even heard of a combination where fish and apples go hand in hand. The chef, or rather the guy in charge of the micro-wave, shotuld be ashamed and should officialy be banned of calling himself a cook.
When asked for the bill, we payed around 35 euro's. Needless to say this was way to much for such an abomination, barely worth naming it food.
IMO when I have dinner in a city with a fishing-harbour, I expect fish to be fresh. Sadly this was not the case.

“Le New Haven Just Keeps Impressing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2012

Just had a weekend break in Dieppe, meeting up with our friends from Holland who had never visited Dieppe. I know "Le New Haven" from many years ago when I used to go over frequently for day visits from Newhaven, East Sussex, when the ferry used to dock right in the town centre, almost directly across from "Le New Haven", and used it many times and always had a wonderful meal there. Prior to our trip over, I did some research on the restaurants in Dieppe on Trip Adviser, and was very pleased to see it was still very highly rated.
It has now been expanded, having bought the restaurant that used to be next door and been very smartly updated. We went there on our first night, and all four of us were just so impressed with our meal, with all of choosing the cheapest menu, which had a very good selection to choose from. We could not believe what outstanding value it was and how every course was just superb. The next day we had a day trip out touring the coast down to Valery en Caux, Fecamp and Etretat. We had thought about having dinner in Fecamp but then, with too much time to wait until time for dinner, we decided to head back to Dieppe, and it was a unanimous decision to go back AGAIN to Le New Haven for our dinner. Three of us tried different meals, from the same cheaper menu, and one went onto the next higher menu. We again were all so happy and impressed, AGAIN, with our meals.
Not only is the food and presentation superb, but the service was excellent, and the atmosphere and amience were terrrific.
None of us could find a fault with Le New Haven, and we shall carry on singing its praises!!!!
