“Lovely hotel in a nicely central village of the Dordogne”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

This hotel is situated in a charming little French village. We stayed there because we wanted to visit the Caves around the area and made a few day trips. It takes a car to stay here as there is no direct train service but the countryside is so beautiful. We walked around the little town a lot, which had many picturesque old buildings, bridges and examples of different architecture. It is run by a friendly couple who speak English well and they do have a yummy, bountiful breakfast in their cellar below the hotel. I loved the stone stair cases and furnishings. The bathroom was a little tight, but serviceable. I am sure it was hard to add to an old building such as this but it was modern and clean. The price was very reasonable. This is an example of a lovely little gem of a hotel one enjoys finding in the European countryside: warm, friendly atmosphere, something that feels authentic to the culture and time of the place you are staying in, attention to detail like fine delicious bread, dairy and fruits in the morning with plenty of tea or coffee. There was also a nice farmers market right outside the hotel on a day we were there where we picked up some fois gras and sausage the region is famous for.
I would love to go back for a longer stay sometime and also in the summer instead of the winter when we were there.
It is a very romantic place but I could also see it being family friendly.

This is a small hotel in the centre of Souillac, in a delightful picturesque square with the very rustic tower of the Salle St Martin opposite, so right away you feel you have arrived somewhere beautiful & historic. Our room, up a fine old stone staircase, was large, clean, well appointed and unarguably French, the decor being fabric wall coverings, with comfortable armchairs, desk, etc, smart but discreet, and very pleasing. We had a wonderful view of the church tower directly opposite. The hotel does not have a restaurant but it produced the best breakfast we had in France, and there are several restaurants close by, including one right opposite, so this is not a problem. We received a warm & friendly welcome, and everything about the place felt classy and well cared for. We will definitely revisit when next passing this way.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with the view at the front.

Not often, but sometimes, everything that you hope for comes together in a single experience. This small hotel has a charm and a warmth that makes you feel that this is the best place you could be at that moment. It faces a small, quiet square opposite the ruins of an ancient church tower, and as you look down on the scene you realize that nothing is contrived; it all works. The phrase "shabby-chic" perfectly describes the rooms; they are very comfortable, and each one has it's own individuality. The hotel itself is centrally located and easy to find. And, as mentioned in other reviews, the breakfast is great.

A lovely little hotel in the historic town of Souillac. We received a very warm welcome from Veronique who spoke excellent English.
Our room was furnished in a "shabby-chic" style - very clean and comfortable. The view from our window was just stunning - a medieval church tower overlooking a picturesque square.
The facilities in the room were good - nice spacious bathroom with twin sinks and an over bath shower that had a good supply of hot water. There was a separate toilet, a good sized wardrobe and plenty of drawer space.
Breakfast was continental style with plenty of choice of locally sourced produce served from 8-noon.There was free private parking.
I highly recommend this lovely hotel and the attentive staff!

Room Tip: We had room 12 on the second floor - amazing view and very comfortable.

What a delight ! A superb Hotel, in the heart of the historic part of Souillac. At 500 years old, this really is a historical stay. Loved the breakfast room, great food and perfect surroundings. Veronic and the breakfast lady were lovely, and one day Veronic dressed to complement the decor too ! (Orange and white) she looked lovely. thanks to all.

This is a fantastic little hotel. From the moment you walk in you are struck by its character - the huge stone staircase going up to the first floor is very impressive and just one of the numerous features which make this hotel quite unique. The room was very comfortable and just as impressive as the rest of the hotel - we were on a room looking onto the alley which was very quiet so we were able to leave the window open for some fresh air. The split bathroom was small but very clean and had everything we needed. The location can't be beaten - looking out onto the main plaza with bars and restaurants on hand. A great choice.

We stayed here for 2 nights with our 2 children.
The room was great and more than large enough.
Cleaned daily and the staff was attentive for our needs.
A fan was provided, which was an complaint I had read before departing, so they really did take notice of what people were writing and trying to improve where needed.
The bathroom was clean and everything needed was provided.
Breakfast was very well done, the lady in the breakfast room was super friendly and very sweet with the children.
There was enough to choose from and it didn't lack us of anything.
When we asked our hostess for tips for some not so touristic places she helped us out with her contagious smile!
We can surely recommend this hotel to couples, family's, friends and all others.
The town it self is amazingly cosy and defintily less touristic then the surrounding villages!

Room Tip: Must do when you are in the area!
