“Grand”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

A typical 3* French Hotel, with quirky rooms and plenty of character. Our room was fairly basic, but roomy and cleany. Large bathroom with bath and shower all in a "delicious" shade of green. We were on the fourth floor at the back over looking the church which was floodlit at night and gave plenty of atmosphere. No air conditioning.

The food, both table d'hote and a la carte was excellent and way above what you would expect for 3 stars. The reastaurant was full every night both with locals and tourists which must say something. There was a varied selection of wines and beers on offer. Breakfast had all the usual items, but it was the evening meals that were worth waiting for, and the coffee was excellent.

Our first visit and certainly wont be our last

All the staff were very friendly and helpful, and probably the easiest check in ever.

Room Tip: Rooms on the fourth floor at the rear and fifth floor at the front may be a little hot at night.

Like several other reviewers we stayed here as part of a Treyn package group. Although listed as a 3 star the standard of food was at the very least to this standard; service, quantity and quality were all excellent. Our sole disappointment was the room - No 501 on the fifth floor. To be fair, it had all the basics but for a double room it was every much on the small size and every move had to be planned to avoid collision with one's partner. The room allocation seemed to have been somewhat haphazard- we heard that two single ladies had each had a room much bigger than ours.
But overall it was a very pleasant stay and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff could not be faulted.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms at the front overlooking the restaurant terrace and the main road.

this is a lovely hotel run by nice friendly people the food was good and the wine was o/k the location was alright some people seemed to get bitten by mosquitos at the bar at night we always went out to various bars so we were o/k our room overlooked the church it had charming old fashioned shutters we loved it. It seems to us some of the people who moan about the hotel are only happy when they are complaining we would go back there anytime and stay

Room Tip: higher rooms seemed a little quieter on the church side of the hotel

Lovely Traditional French hotel. The owners and staff who run the hotel are brilliant. The food is good and typically French, lovely bread and croissants for breakfast. Meals and snacks as well as very good coffee served throughout the day, used by locals is usually a good sign!

It is the perfect base for exploring Dordogne & Lot being centrally located. Sitting in the square at the front of the hotel with a meal or a drink is the perfect way to relax.

Would not hesitate in recommending.

Stayed here in September with Treyn Holidays and we too were pleasantly surprised after reading some adverse reviews. The hotel is now family run, the owners and staff are lovely -very friendly, helpful and most efficient, going out of their way to ensure we had an enjoyable stay. The hotel is typically French, a pretty old building with lots of character which the new owners are still refurbishing and doing an excellent job. Our room was spacious and very clean. Comfy bed and immaculate linen and towels. As we were part of a group the evening meal was a set menu comprising of 4 courses (should you prefer alternatives these were available on request). We found the food was both good and varied, well cooked and the wine just kept flowing, our waiter was brilliant! At the continental breakfast a good selection was available. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay at this hotel again

We had lunch sitting outside in the sunshine last week and it wasnt until i came to write this review I read others experiences. Our meal was very good and very reasonably priced. We had the menu of the day which was 3 courses for 12.50 euros and it was great, well cooked and the staff were very friendly and efficient. Give them a try, we walked in off the street as it looked so pretty and were very pleased with our choice.
