“Super B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

Great Hosts, Great location, Great Accommodation - Overall great experience.
Spent three nights with Mel & Mick with our great friends from Australia to explore the Snowdonia area.
I can confirm what all the reviews say, that the "basics" such as Bed/Breakfast/Broadband/TV etc all work really well. The standards of cleanliness and decor are very high.
But what we also found, was a real sense of pleasure in being hosts to their guests. Mel & Mick have clearly found a great balance to their lives and it shines through in the way they welcome you into their home and nothing seems too much for them. Their pleasure in sharing their local knowledge really makes a difference as you plan precious time. Their sense of enjoyment is infectious and made our stay a complete pleasure.

We decided on impulse to go away for the weekend with the great weather we had. After searching online we came across this B&B just near the Snowdon national park. The room was comfortable with en suite and the welcome tea and cakes made a great start to our stay. There are quite a few restaurants nearby so dinner was not a problem. Breakfast was great, especially the local Welsh yoghurt. The only issue was that breakfast was served from 8-9am and checkout at 10am even on a Sunday! Otherwise a good place overall.

We have stayed with Mick and Mel on several occasions, both in the B&B and in the self catering accommodation. The location is very idyllic and ideal for exploring North Wales and the Snowdonia National Park. A short walk into Bala where there are very nice restaurants and local pubs.
Mick and Mel are the most hospitable and friendly hosts you could wish to meet, very welcoming and accommodating to what ever your need is, hence why we have been back several times.
The B&B and the cottage is of a very standard and feels very homely. I would certainly recommend this accommodation to anyone who is planning a weekend/main holiday North Wales.

We thouroghly enjoyed our stay at the Cysgod y coed B&B. The tea and warm welsh cakes were much appreciated after the long journey and the owners were very welcoming. The rooms were immaculately clean and we felt at home right away. The breakfast was delicious from local welsh yogurt to full traditional welsh breakfasts. Nothing was too much trouble and the owners were more than happy to advise us on where to visit in the area. It makes a great base to visit the beautiful surrounding area from the Snowdownia national park to the scenic lakes of central wales. We particularly enjoyed kayaking and canoeing on the lakes!! Would definitely recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday.

We stayed here one night on a fly through stopover between Edinburgh and London. We received enough information about the surrounding area to maximize our time there. Walked up a hill behind the B&B then went for a guided sail on the lake which Mel organized for us in the morning.
An assortment of cereals and cooked breakfast was available also a fresh fruit salad. All the ingredients were very tasty! I liked the look of the separate Bach and if I'm ever in the area again, I'd definitely come back and stay there.

Mel and Mick are so welcoming and passionate about their home that we felt at home straight away.Nothing was too much trouble.Mel even found speciality Tea for us.
The B&B is so lovely and clean and it is in such a beautiful location. The sound of the stream and wildlife was very relaxing. The hot tub was the icing on the cake. We will be sure to return soon. Thank you.

We spent two nights at this lovely B&B. A fantastic reception from genuinely nice people who gave great advice about the local area. Breakfast was superb with the finest quality ingredients which we enjoyed. The room was very comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities and a ensuite which suited all our needs. Overall a fantastic gem and highly recommendable. Thank you!

Room Tip: Bring bathers for the hot tub
