“An Enjoyable Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

We stayed at the Pontoon Bridge Hotel for a wedding. It has a beautiful location with stunning views across Lough Conn. The restaurant is very good. This hotel has a very hearty Irish breakfast which was excellent. The staff are local people. They gave us a warm, friendly welcome. They could not have been more helpful. This hotel is well situated for exploring Co.Mayo.

Room Tip: The rooms are very spacious, with lots of storage.

Stayed in Pontoon Bridge Hotel on the October Bank Holiday weekend for 2 nights. Hotel is in a lovely location with great views over Lough Conn from the Restaurant/Bar. Reception were very friendly and helpful, rooms were comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and was self service. Seating area in bar is very comfortable. Night porter was very friendly and accommodating.
Enjoyed our stay there and if the weather was a little better the experience would have been even better.

Room Tip: Room 101 is a suite but same price as normal room as far as I could see.

The decor in the room was sparse and shabby. The extractor fan from the kitchen exited through a pipe beside our bedroom window, an unwanted noise.
We had booked for two nights but stayed for one and left ASAP.

Room Tip: Stay at a different hotel

This hotel and restaurant is right on the lakes area, and very pretty scenery. we visited and had a very nice lunch in October, with few people around. the Hotel/Restaurant is only open weekends in October. We enjoyed, and you will also.

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Pontoon Bridge for 2 nights in June 2012. A short drive from Knock airport it is in a great location in a beautiful part of Mayo - right between two scenic loughs. The hotel was gorgeous, and we were fortunate enough to have a room with a fantastic view looking out right across the water. Rooms were spacious and spotless. Staff were very friendly, even upgrading us after an initial mix up with our booking (through an external holiday company - not the Pontoon Bridge) meaning that we initially got a slightly smaller room.

Breakfast was fantastic, with a full Irish breakfast, yoghurts and cereal all on offer. The restaurant itself is in a lovely part of the hotel, again overlooking the lough.

We visited a nearby bar called Healy's, a short walk (20 mins) down a quiet stretch of road right alongside the lough - which is well worth a visit and has a great atmosphere, views and is full of characters.

The bar at the Pontoon Bridge is great, attracting plenty of locals as well as offering a great selection of drinks/wine.

I'd recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a piece of luxury and tranquility in the beautiful West of Ireland!

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a view of the lough if possible - unmissable!
