We stayed here forr two nights, and will definitely go back.
I was looking for a nice hotel with good food and a wellness, surrounded by plenty nature, and where we could take our (small) dog. Michelin proved most helpful to select based on these criteria, so we drove about 2hrs from the Brussels region.
In contrast to one of the previous comments, the parking was FREE outside the hotel (there is an indoor parking, which you need to pay; can be useful in winter!), and we parked very close to the main entrance.
The welcome was courteous and we were accompanied to our room, which was quite a distance. We had booked a Junior Suite, and found ourselves having a room with a great view of the pool, garden, valley, and even Bourscheid Castle, facing south (tip: the 360 on their website is really accurate to view the rooms and facilities in general).
We had booked half-board, so went down for what we expected to e a classical half-board meal (starter, main desert). We were very pleasantly surprised that we had a printed menu for us, with in fact 6 courses: 1. self-service salad bar [OK, but could have a bit more variation]; 2. soup [nice]; 3. Cold starter [very articstic, and tasteful]; 4. Hot starter [fish: nice]; 5. Main [veal: nice]; desert [crepes suzette!]. Portions were fortunately not too big, otherwise we would not have made it. The wine list was really extensive! And the setting of the restaurant is very nice: distinguished but not dull or posh is what I would describe it as.
We slept very well: no interior noise whatsoever. Fortunately there is not much traffic at night on the main road that passes the hotel. Even though we were at the back, you could hear the cars racing past, and this is the only downside.
The breakfast was very elaborate, with plenty choice in cereals, pastries, meats, chesses, fruits, yoghurt, juices. It is served in a diifferent room, which is very light and has some nice views of the garden and hills.
In my experience, the welnnes is really one of the best: very light, spacious, everything clean and functioning. There are 4 saunas (1 outside, with the classic bucket of cold water to pour over yourself if you want), and a steam bath. Also a tepidarium (a bit too cold perhaps) and some relaxation seats. THe pool is nice and continues outside, where the view is great. Good to know is that the wellness actually opens already in the morning (around 10), though only with one or 2 saunas; by mid-late afternoon everything is on, and it closes at 10PM. There are spacious changing rooms and lockers for the guests.
You can go for nice walks closeby; the hotel provides a map with 3 loops of about one hour each, in different directions. We tried 2 and enjoyed it very much.
The dinner on the second night was less refined. The fish was a bit dull, and the meat had clearly been waiting too long under the hot lamp before being picked up by the waiter.
But overall, we really ejoyed the place, and can recommend it. Yes, it is in the "middle of nowhere", but that is what we wanted.
Check well the location before you leave, as the hotel is NOT on Google maps (weird!!), and it was a...
