“"Warm and Friendly Welcome"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012

We Stayed at Chatcoombe for four nights. On our arrival Merle and Richard greeted us with a lovely pot of tea, and a cold drink for my daughter.

The room was beautifully presented, exceptionally clean, and light and airy. Both Merle and Richard had an exceptional knowledge of the area, and gave us great tips on where to go and where to park. They also had lots of leaflets on activities for sunny and rainy days.

The breakfasts were exceptional, there was a wide choice available even down to cockles and larder bread, fresh fruits and a wonderfully cooked breakfast. Out of ten i would rate it eleven.

Their hospitality was great and i felt more like a friend than a guest. Thank you both for a lovely stay, we were able to see so much of wales, but will certainly come back to see the rest.

Your kindness and generous spirit will be remembered. This bed and breakfast is a hidden gem.

I used Chatcoombe on a trip to Swansea because it was recommended by colleagues at the University of Swansea. It was great and we will be using it regularly for the next few years.

Really warm welcome from Merle and Richard. The pot of tea on arrival was especially appreciated after a long journey. They were helpful and knowledgeable about the university as my son and I were there to visit on an Open day.
Breakfast fantastic,so much choice and all freshly prepared.
Much nicer than staying in a chain hotel.

A total gem of a place. Room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. B and B is perfectly located for exploring the Gower and surrounding area. Owners were delightful and literally couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was out of this world. Freshly prepared and far exceeds what you would get in any hotel chain. Ive never seen so many different flavours of jam and marmalade. This really did exceed our expectations and we will definitely be back!

Fantastic!! Don’t hesitate, book this B&B! My partner and I were very impressed. Superb value for money! You never know what you might get with the British B&B unfortunately. I fear dirty, tired rooms and substandard food but with Merle and Richard we got the exact opposite. We stayed for four nights in Sept ’11. Our room was very clean (not just surface clean), the decor was tasteful, the furniture was in good condition and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was modern and very clean, with plenty of good quality towels. Breakfast was a treat not to be missed. There was every kind of fresh fruit that you can imagine (fresh every day), organic yoghurts, fruit juice, fresh coffee, bottled water and much more, as well as a wonderful cooked breakfast (quality sausages, not cheap rubbish). Merle & Richard are wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome; when we arrived, after a hideous journey, we were offered a drink, and it was a lovely touch to be welcomed with a cafetiere of coffee and a selection of biscuits, my partner was offered a beer. They were incredibly helpful re places to visit and places to eat. Another nice touch.... dressing gowns in the room.

My husband and I spent 3 nights staying with Rich and Merle at their lovely B&B in Sketty (on the edge of Swansea) over the August Bank Holiday weekend. We experienced exceptional hospitality and kindness and a very warm welcome during our stay.

Breakfast is great - as big or small as you want - with a really wide selection of items available inc. fresh fruit, selection of fruit juices, well cooked eggs/sausages etc.

Our en-suite room was very cosy - it had a nice comfortable bed and the room included everything that you could need (i.e. TV, fridge, free wifi, blackout blind).

A great deal of thought is clearly given to the running of this B&B and Merle and Rich are naturally a very welcoming couple, who help you with your bags upon arrival and impart plenty of interesting and useful information about what there is to do locally. They really go out of their way to give you a very relaxing time whilst you're staying with them.

I highly recommend this B&B and would certainly stay there again should I be visiting the Gower Peninsula in the future! It is easy to drive to many beautiful beaches from this location and there are some good and reasonably prices places to eat nearby :-) Very important!

One final comment - when we arrived on a Friday evening very tired, after a 6 hour drive from London, Merle very kindly offered to drive us to the local pub where really nice food was served, to save us having to find our way there ourselves. That was a really kind gesture and set the tone for the type of hosts that Merle and Richard are. Excellent!

My wife and I have just returned from a three night stay at Chatcoombe and would recommend it unreservedly for anyone looking for somewhere to stay in the Swansea / Gower area. The rooms are clean, welcoming and comfortable - we stayed in the Blue room with sea views and a separate bathroom. The location is ideal, on a quiet street with no noise at night and only a short distance into Swansea, Mumbles and the rest of the beautiful Gower Peninsula.

The owners, Richard and Merle are both such genuine and friendly people and do everything they can to make your stay as enjoyable as possible, they really are lovely. Their knowledge of the area is excellent so they can recommend plenty of things to do whatever the weather. As many reviews have also stated, the breakfast is amazing!! We couldn't believe the variety on offer and all of it was of a very high standard, well worth getting out of bed for!

So if you are thinking of staying in this area for a few nights, or longer, Chatcoombe provides a great place to stay and is also very good value for money. I don't think you will find better!
