“'I did not want to leave this beautiful place'”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

I have just spent 2 nights and 3 days at this hotel with my husband for our wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful time from the moment we arrived, the hotel is set in 12 acres of grounds with beautifully maintained gardens, topiary and sun terraces. There is also a secluded outside swimming pool with the most comfortable sun loungers. It was great to be able to swim everyday and relax by the pool in this sunny weather.
All of the staff are very welcoming and friendly, nothing is too much trouble.
We had delicious cream teas on day one and the tasting menu on two evenings (the menu changed so we were able to taste different foods). If you do not fancy a dessert then try the bar mans special rasberry creme brulee martini!
Our room was light, spacious and comfortable, we had a bowl of fruit and macaroons waiting for us on arrival and these were topped up on a daily basis. Also had Molton Brown products in the bathroom. Definitely recommend the hotel, we will be back to stay and will also take our dog too next time. Thank you to all the staff at the hotel who looked after us from 14 th to 16th July.

We had afternoon tea here this afternoon and what a lovely tea it was we were served tea on the terrace in the beautiful afternoon sun and in tranquil surroundings. The tea was poured for us and replenished without asking the staff were very attentive the food was presented beautifully down to the scones being wrapped in a napkin. We had a lovely afternoon and would recommend having tea here for any special occasion.

Stayed here for one night's break on a beautiful summer's day in July. The hotel is full of character and historic charm, dating back to Elizabethan times, with lovely hidden areas to discover. The welcome from all the staff was attentive, relaxed and personal, which created an intimate atmosphere in such a magnificent building. We were made to feel very 'at home', despite only staying for one night, and the fact they were expecting a big wedding party on the Saturday afternoon. We had a lovely room at the front with a four poster bed, and a delicious dinner in the beautiful Baron's Hall. We asked for a few 'off piste' choices for breakfast and nothing was too much trouble. The grounds are beautiful, with several terraces, a formal garden, croquet lawn and secluded outdoor pool where we lazed away a few hours with the papers before heading off. A lovely relaxing experience.

Four of us had booked for the tasting menu (courtesy of a groupon voucher). Our first impression on arrival was "wow" what a beautiful building/setting. The staff were suitably attentive, without making us feel uncomfortable, the food delicious, the drinks sublime. We had a lovely evening - so nice to be able to take our time with suitable gaps between courses. Loved it and will definitely return - Groupon or not.

We entertained our Australian friends to a quaintessential English Olde Worlde venue for Lunch
The duty receptionist was accommodating as the restaurant was fully booked by offering to serve us Lunch in their carefully manicured topiary gardens
The limited Garden menu offered good seafood -a bit disappointing as the portions were minimalistic, as they charged £16.95 for the dressed Crab
Our guests were overwhemed by the histotical ambience as well as the potted history on the front of the menu

I came away feeling hungary

I have not stayed in this hotel and this review is only for the afternoon tea - it didn't seem to come up under "restaurant" at all - so here goes. My friend invited me to join her here in The Morning Room at Weston Manor for an afternoon tea. Had I known the venue was so grand I would have dressed better than jeans and a top, but to give them their due, the staff displayed real manners in treating me any differently from ladies there that afternoon in their best dresses/finery - and their were a few! The location is beautiful, so close to us, but I had never seen it before, behind high hedges. Inside reminded me of the old shooting lodge some of my husbands relatives lived in in the Scottish Highlands. Lots of wood panelling, antiques - that wonderful air of gentility, rather than snobbishness which rings true with good breeding (or so my mother in law said). Nothing was too much trouble, the waiter in charge was faultless in his efficiency and did everything with great manners and charm. This kind of service, often so lacking elsewhere, was worth going for alone. The quality of the food when it came was truely amazing too. Just a whisper to the waitor that I was in fact lactose intolerant, had him, without fuss, tell me very politely which sandwiches and cakes were safe to eat and which not. He very kindly bought a further selection from the kitchen, safe for me to eat, as well. We had the the least expensive afternoon tea, but would have struggled to have got through any more. There were 5 small sandwiches each, beautiful fillings in each and without crusts as you would expect. This was followed by 2 small scones each - with cream and jam under normal circumstances. We managed about 2 cakes each after that, but had to leave the rest! We each had a huge silver pot of tea, selected from their own range of loose teas - the assam/dargeeling mix was wonderful, especially without milk - which I can't have anyway. The normal cost would be £23.00 each, but this was a prepaid treat from my friend's daughter. Whilst not exactly cheap, the quality and amount more than makes up for this. I would definately go back and treat someone else for a special occassion - a birthday perhaps? If you have time you can take a turn around the beautiful gardens as well, or sit and read the papers in one of the sitting rooms - there was certainly no pressure to leave. Dinner here must be a delight, worth thinking about too - and what a shame I live so close I don't need to stay overnight!

Room Tip: Take a female friend for a birthday treat, she'll love you forever!

We have just been for the most fabulous tea in the most beautiful place. We did have groupon vouchers but it was a fantastic afternoon with immaculate service and attention to detail. The food was incredible and nothing was too much trouble! The charming Italian waiter made the day!
