On my way back from the Bay-Area to Las Vegas last week I got on Highway 33 from 152 with my GPS telling me that there was some restaurants and motels in a small community called Santa Nella about 3-miles down the road, so as I came into this small area, I saw a couple of gas stations, an In & Out burger place and a Denny’s. Wanting some dinner, I ate at the local Denny’s and on my way out I asked the waitress if there was a reputable hotel or motel that she could recommend, she said there was the local Motel-6, and a full service hotel called Mission De Oro just down the street.
Not being a fan of Motel-6, I opted for this other place called Mission de Oro, which I was a little skeptical on because it was back off the highway about 2 or 3/10 of a mile. As I drove down the driveway I passed a couple of fast food places and some construction, still a little unsure, I saw what looked like a large church tower but as I drove closer I could now tell it was in fact a hotel, and a fairly large one. Parked my car and went inside, and I must admit from here on in, I was pleasantly surprised!
Nice, clean lobby, and as I looked out into the courtyard, I could see a very pretty grassy area that was well taken care of, and a water fountain with a multi-colored light display. In the distance at the end of the buildings I saw a real pretty “Gazebo” (Great for couples and the romantic at heart) and what looked like a large swimming pool in the corner.
The girl at the front desk was dressed nicely, was very courteous and welcomed me. Since I travel a lot on business; 3 things are very important to me, (1) I want a NON-SMOKING room, (2) The Wi-Fi MUST work, (3) And the place is safe.
I was very pleased to say that my room was very clean, looked like it had been recently remodeled, it was definitely a non-smoking room, clean and fresh! and not one like you find in some places where it smells like old cigars or stale cigarettes, and finally I have to say that this place had an incredible WI-FI, it was fast, strong single and it worked GREAT (very important for me)
A couple of other things that were not that important to me but was a pleasant surprise (as I was on company business), They have a restaurant with a FREE sit down breakfast included in the price, eggs, bacon or sausage, toast and coffee included! Oh the rate was pretty reasonable, I paid $79.00 and they gave me an AAA discount on top of that!
All in all, not bad for a place that is a little out of the way, my thanks to the referral from the Denny’s waitress. Definitely worth the 3-mile detour to highway-33 which is right off I-5. I later found out. I will be back when my travels again cross this hotels path!
