“Lovely, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013

Just stayed on business for 2 nights and remembered what a lovely hotel this is. From check in to check out the staff really try and make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. The rooms were very comfortable, clean and well kept, the spa is very nice ( the staff leant me the locker token when i couldn't find mine) and the bar was very welcoming. Special praise goes to the staff on the breakfast shift. Really accommodating and friendly ladies welcome you in for breakfast and nothing is a problem from skimmed milk to de-caff tea. All round great customer service in a relaxing environment.

I have now stayed here on several occasions. I have always found that from reception to dining top class. Everyone goes out of their way to make your stay a memorable one. There is also the added bonus of the gym and swimming pool that was always welcome at the end of a busy day.

I stay at this hotel regularly with my sister. My last stay was at the end of April 2013. The rooms are always extremely clean and the facilities are fabulous. The breakfasts are amazing and the breakfast staff always work so very hard to please all guests. Well done! Just a few little niggles. I am a dog lover and own a rescue dog myself but my sister is extremely allergic to dog hair. Throughout our weekend visit we encountered many dogs. In fact it was like a doggy retreat. Dogs and their owners coming in and out all day. We were woken at 6.30 in the morning by barking dogs on the field next to our room No.38 and then later in the morning adult and children's boot camp commenced on the same field. I do so hope they scooped the poop beforehand. There were even Q Hotel printed signs on the doors saying something like 'dog playing, enter at your own risk' It appears that there are no specific rooms allocated for dogs and I think that this is huge mistake on QH part. The rule book says dogs should not be left unattended in rooms unless a contact telephone number is given at reception but they definitely were. They have to be at meal times. On meeting one lovely lady in the corridor who had returned to her room to console her whimpering dog whom had been left confused in a strange environment, she was most apologetic and I felt rather sorry for her. So I do hope 'Lilly' the dog is over her trauma and is back home safe and well.
My concern is that my sister is now reluctant to return to this hotel unless she is sure that the room we are allocated has never had a dog in it.
Just one other thing. Please could you put a notice on the main entrance of the hotel to divert smokers to the lovely heated smoking annex. This would then be a much more pleasurable experience for the arrival of non smokers.

Room Tip: If your not a dog lover I would suggest you ask for a room that has not been previously occupied by...

Dear outnabout203

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a detailed review of The Park Royal. We are pleased that you always find the hotel extremely clean and think our facilities are fabulous. As you will be aware from staying with us in the past we are a pet friendly hotel and do allow people to bring dogs into the hotel with regulations in place. This normally equates to a couple of dogs in the hotel at any one time, however we currently have a large group staying at the hotel who have dogs with them and this is the reason you have encountered a lot on this occasion. The rooms are thoroughly cleaned when guests leave and therefore anyone with an allergy to dogs would not suffer. I hope we can welcome you back to The Park Royal in the future and thank you again for leaving your review.

Kind Regards
Paul

Arrived at 18.40 to be told that they did not have a room although I had a reservation. The duty managed acknowledged that I had a reservation, but there was no room. Arrangements had been made for a bed in the local Premier Inn, situated 10 minutes walk away. The whole affair was badly managed although in the end I was offered a £26 dinner in compensation.

I was told the next day that the problem was due to several guests staying on beyond their reserved time although this explanation was not givesn the previous evening.

There were two other parties also told that their long standing reservations had been given away.

So if you want to stay there be aware that your booked room may be given away.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of The Park Royal Hotel. As previously discussed with you it is very rare that we have to turn guests away and rebook them into another hotel and we apologise that on this occasion we had to do this. We hope that we can welcome you back to The Park Royal in the future.

We stayed at the Park Royal Hotel during a previous visit to the Manchester area several years ago and were delighted to find it continues to provide a very comfortable, quiet sanctuary from the travails of travel. I especially appreciated the extra attention from the reception staff in helping to track down our luggage, which missed our flight changes in our trip from the US.

I come to this place around once every two weeks on business. I have tried other hotels in the area but the Park Royal is my definite preference.
The hotel is situated a few miles outside the town, close to the motorway and on a large plot. I would not call it super luxurious, however it is certainly very comfortable and offers a consistent standard. The rooms are all well equipped and I have never been disappointed with the bed or any other room facilities. The rooms do not have air conditioning, however there is a fan above the bed which works well since, like many hotels, the ambient temperature for me errs on the high side.
Meals are very good, excellent breakfast while dinner in both the restaurant and room service is also fine.
The hotel has an excellent gym and spa attached which residents can use.

Room Tip: They are all fine

My daughter booked a spa package at the Park Royal as a break from recent challenges that life has thrown. Perfect choice! From the ease of parking, excellent reception staff, comfortable rooms to tasty food and wonderful massages this hotel exceeded expectations and provided us with a lovely 'mum n daughter' chill out. Its closeness to the motorway is an added bonus. Our only slight grouse was hearing next doors TV as it was on the other side of the adjoining doors - but I'm sure if we'd contacted reception they would have sorted this out for us. I wish all hotels had such a high standard of staff - makes a massive difference.
