“The Hayloft”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

We stayed at the Hayloft for our honeymoon and had a lovely time. Apartment was clean and well presented with everything you needed provided. We found Penny very accomodating - she even let us use the pool etc after closing so that we could enjoy having it to ourselves.
My husband loved the fishing lakes on site, where we spent 2 whole days enjoying the peace and quiet - my huband fishing (with the jack russell's help) and me reading a good book.
Would definately recommend :)

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your stay in the Hayloft during the month of August. I am pleased you enjoyed your honeymoon stay and also pleased to hear your husband enjoyed the fishing.

If you would like to come back next year for a holiday or just a short break you will be most welcome.

All the very best for your future together from Penny and the team.

We had a fantastic time staying at Jasmine Cottage. On arrival we were warmly greeted and shown around our cottage by Penny. The cottage was fantastic - immaculately cleaned. The cottage is spacious and there is plenty of room. There was 7 of us in total - each room has an ensuite. The kitchen is spacious and well equipt. The swimming pool was great - sometimes was a little bit busy, but that was more our timing than anything else. The hot tub was a joy to be able to use, and we never had to wait to use this. The childrens play area was a plus.We visted many of dorsets attractions whilst there - weymouth etc. Overall a fantastic place to stay and would definatly recommend this to anybody. Thank you Penny :)

A wonderful rural place to stay. We were met by Penny who was friendly and helpful. The spacious Granary was fitted out to a very high standard, well equipped and beautifully clean. The pool and hot tub were great, the girls and I just loved chilling out in them after a busy day sightseeing. Hubby loved the fishing, he caught his first fish on a beautiful summer evening. The location was ideal for sightseeing - Weymouth, Poole, Lyme Regis, Dorchster, Durdle Door, and rural villages with beautiful thatched cottages.

Lots of Pubs around doing great food. We loved The Greenman at Kingstag. A very varied menu and generous portions. There aren't any pubs within easy walking distance, so be prepared to drive.

This was a super place to stay and we will definately be coming back.

Room Tip: Having three showers in The Granary was great bonus for our family. The two upstairs rooms had ensu...

We had a lovely time staying at the Victorian Barn from 3rd August – 10th August. We booked The Hayloft, which offered beautiful views from the apartment. The lounge area has a high ceiling and the room is clean and fresh with a small kitchen area which provides all the necessities. Throughout the apartment the standard of cleaning is high, the rooms fresh, the beds comfortable and the shower areas modern. My husband felt thoroughly relaxed after his regular visits to the sauna and my two boys had so much fun in the indoor pool. Our main reason for visiting Dorset was to take the boys to Monkey World and The Victorian Barn was ideally located for this and many other attractions. Penny, the owner of The Victorian Barn was very helpful and friendly and we all fell in love with Katie, a very happy Jack Russell.

Thank you for your kind comments after your recent stay in the Hayloft.

I think another of your special moments was to be able to watch Ben Ainslea win the Gold Medal for sailing during your visit to Weymouth.

Very much hope to see you and your family again in the future.

just got back today and had to write on here how fantastic this place is. We stayed here purposely for the fishing and the location for days out to Weymouth, Dorchester etc.

Arrived and was greeted by the friendly face of Penny, the owner, we was then taken to a lovely looking cottage where we was shown around to find it was absolutely amazing! Everything was cleaned to an extremely high standard, was very nicely decorated and felt homely the moment you walked through the door. All rooms looked freshly decorated as if we had just walked into a brand new show home. All bedrooms again were immaculate and very relaxing. All bathrooms were clean to an exceptional standard and again a freshly decorated feel.

Penny and Derek were helpful and friendly as were there dogs especially katie the excitable Jack Russell. Fishing was great too had a fair few fish biggest was about 10lbs but the condition of the fish were fantastic. The location is beautiful you really feel in the middle of nowhere, complete peace and quiet. The gym and pool all looked great even though we did not make use of them.

Would come back again tomorrow in a heartbeat.

Together with my family we spent an idyllic week in Dorset, despite the rain and wind (we went Jubilee Week). We stayed in Beatrice House, 8 adults and 1 7 year old, and we had a ball. The house was spacious, clean and fully equipped for us, never had so many untensils before and serving dishes!! The pool, gym, sauna and hottub were fab and when we asked Penny if the opening time for the pool on our last full day could be extended it was no problem. On the run up to the holiday I was in regular email contact regarding Jubilee Celebrations and local events and can only praise you for your swift response with all the info we could need. I had such high hopes for this holiday and it more than surpassed my expectations. The house was wonderful, the location idylic and the staff including Katy the dog, very friendly, approachable and accomadating. I have recommended The Barns to several friends and hope to make a return visit to hopefully watch the stars from the hot tub!! Thank you all for helping to make my dream holiday a reality.

Thank you for your kind comments with regards to your stay last week in Beatrice House within The Victorian Barn.

We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and look forward to you visiting again in the future.

NB
Katy is missing you but has now made friends with another family in Plumtree Cottage who also love her.
Titan the Pheasant has moved on, with our help, to live with a group of Bantams in the village.

The weather is not as bad as the weatherman predicted for this week so the guests staying have been able to sit outside and enjoy the sunsets on at least two occasions.

We stayed here with my young son (1 and 4 months) just recently. Beforfe we set off the owners contacted us and offered us a free upgrade from the Byre to the Grannery.

On arrival we were welcomed with spacious and clean accomodation. The rooms were large and we found the kitchen to have all you would expect in terms of facilities and utensils from a self catering establishment.

The location is beautiful and you can set off in all directions to attractions. The onsite gym and pool were appreciated, especially as the weather looked like it may be unkind, although this did not turn out to be the case.

We found the owners to be welcoming and helpful.

I loved the fishing lakes, (free to guests) where i caught several sizaable carp and was fortunate to also catch a very large carp in the silverfish lake, possibly 12 lb +. i think it was maybe transfered there via the closeby specimin lake. In my excitement i forgot to return it to its correct home!

We went to the Gaggle of Geese for a superb evening meal and there are many other good pubs close by.

My only recommendation would be to put a black out blind in the bedroom skylight as its no fun having the sun beeming through your window at 6 a.m when your on holiday.

Apart from that tiny oan, which is easily overcome, it was a faultless stay.

We will be back.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on The Victorian Barn and I am pleased to enjoyed your stay with us.

I will take on board your comments about applying a blackout blind to the velux windows in the triple bedroom, there is a blind on both windows but if the sun is exceptionally bright then I could understand you would not like to be woken too early when on holiday.

Look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
