Seaside town on the Silver coast about 1hour from Lisbon. Everything in the town is in walking distance. Lots of bars and restaurants. Beautiful beach with long stretches of sand and lifeguards during the summer. Plenty of canvas beach huts and chairs available for rent. This is not the place to come if you want a busy tourist trap such as Benidorm. The peak time for this town and this part of Portugal is July/August, out of season there are a lot less restaurants open but it is peaceful and beautiful. There is a breeze most of the time here and the sea is cold - it is the Atlantic after all. It is particularly good for surfing on this coast and there are surf schools on the promenade that do a selection of surf lessons from one off to courses. There is a swimming pool at the camp site which you can go to for approx 2euro. There is a night club during the summer but it doesn't get going until around 1am. Buses to Lisbon go from the centre of town several times a day. If you are going to stay here then a car is really a good idea. In the town there is a Tourist info (not open in the winter), crazy golf, small supermarket, small childrens play area. There are bigger supermarkets in Lourinha which is about 3km away. Places to visit within easy reach with a car are Peniche (there is also a small waterpark here), Obidos, Supertubos surfing beach, Baleal (water sports available here), Go karting track.
This is an ideal place for those who want a relaxixng summer beach holiday without all the tourists that you get in on most south europe holidays.
