We stayed at the Gladstone over Friday/Saturday. We booked a standard double and were allocated room 4. Nice view of the sea from the side of the hotel but we probably should have booked room 1 or 2 as we like a bigger bed than a standard double! The Gladstone is excellent. Lovely atmosphere and nice pub style. Nice selection of drinks and lovely food. We checked in and were met by a lovely lady who explained all we needed to know. It was great to know there was fresh milk for tea and coffee on the landing which we could help ourselves too. The room was modern and clean and a nice bathroom tiled top to bottom. I had a fab bath at 11.30pm! with plenty of hot water. The room was nicely heated but when we tried to turn the radiator down, it wouldn't get any cooler! We opened a window and had a nice breeze so we were fine. The breakfast was served in a side room off of the main bar which as nice. There were lots of cooked breakfast option and breakfast 9am - 10am suited us totally. The only downside for us was that we really didn't sleep very well. Its a shame because the rest of the stay was fabulous. The mattress was a little thin and sloped away to the sides. Recommended and definitely worth its 4* rating from the AA. We will definitely be back to stay again.
