“Simply the best - Outstanding in everyway.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2011

What do you excpect from a B & B, well this isn't really just a B & B it was a Boutique Treasure.
Our room was beautifully appointed, the bathroom a pleasure.
I don't think it was possible to fault Heathcote House, from the helpful booking in, to organising a taxi, we were attending a wedding near by, in a way a shame as I would have loved to spend more time in the village and at Heathcote House, it was opposite a pub as well !!
Out standing breakfast in a conservatory room, the hottest eggs I've ever had !! lovely bacon and home made preserves, - I sound like a bird - with the owners dogs lounging in the garden.
You may think it all sounds just too good, but really it is ! and I do travel.

Room Tip: Beautiful, and not in fuddy traditional way - Stylish.

I’ve only once previously given a rating of 5 for accommodation but Heathcote House thoroughly deserves this.

We arrived on Saturday 18 June 2011 for one night, not through our own planning but having been transferred here by another establishment which was unable to honour our reservation. In retrospect we owe a vote of thanks for this!

The house is impeccably furnished and decorated, with beautifully arranged flowers all over the place; the Teal Room which we were given was large and very quiet and the bed extremely comfortable. The large tub in the ensuite bathroom was inviting after a long day of travelling. But the breakfast the next morning was the pièce de résistance, full of lovely little touches like the fabulous home-made jams and poached fruits from the garden, extremely good home-made müsli and the enormous grilled field mushroom on the breakfast plate. Best breakfast we have ever encountered! It is served in the conservatory, or in the garden when the weather is warm enough, which it wasn't in this instance, but the surrounding views of the garden are totally delightful and calming to the senses.

Should we ever again require accommodation in mid-Dorset then Heathcote House will be our first choice.

Heathcote House is quite possibly the nicest B&B that either of us have stayed in. The rooms are spacious, well appointed and beautifully decorated. The breakfasts are of the highest quality with lots of great home-made touches, like poached pears from the tree in the garden, and delicious alternatives for vegetarians. The service is perfect - friendly and helpful but without being intrusive. The house and garden are beautiful and located conveniently for exploring the local area.

Our very warm welcome in the elegant drawing room with tea, coffee and superb home-made cake in front of the fire set the tone for a memorable stay. The drawing room is tastefully decorated and furnished and highly conducive to relaxation, as is the generously proportioned Teal Room with its six-foot (or two singles) bed, home-made cookies on the refreshment tray, immaculate bedding and decoration and roomy, stylish, naturally-lit en-suite bathroom .
The excellence continues at breakfast with an array of home produced goodies - granola, marinaded fruits, lemon-curd granola souffle,to name three - complementing the more conventional fresh grapefruit, cereal, juice, etc. Breakfast can be what you like, but the traditional English is delicious, rounded off with toast and flavoursome home-made preserves from the abundant fruit trees in the terraced garden that is the backdrop to the light, airy conservatory where the meal is served.
Nothing seems too much trouble for the landlady who has combined uncompromising boutique-hotel quality and professional service with friendly informality.
