“As an Icelandic summer: short and delicious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2009

The restaurant is about a 45 minute drive from Reykjavik next to the beach- if you want to have a view of the sea make sure that you make a reservation.
Decor- The place has a very Nordic seaside feel (or Scandinavian depending on your political views). Very simple furniture that gives a very warm atmosphere. It has the feel of a neighborhood restaurant.
The Food- You come here for lobster. So, go ahead, order the lobster soup. While you are at it, get 2 lbs. of lobster per person. They are good, these little bright red tasty lobsters. And obviously, don't leave without having the strawberries for dessert.
Bottom line- While the price was steep it was well worth it, you won't have this experience anywhere but in Iceland especially, it is a great ending after the golden circle.

“Great food, beautiful location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2009

The "lobster feast" was one of the best meals we had while in Iceland. This place is located about a 20 minute drive from our hotel in Selfoss.

Incredible meal. The best lobster in the world.

If you are within a hundred miles of this place, you have to try it out!

“Nice seafood restaurant by the shore”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2009

The only bad thing about this restaurant is the service, and only that it's slow. Once you get past that, you'll have a terrific dinner, but know this: your options are very limited. The restaurant only had three main entrees: veggie, lamb, and lobster. If you're not in the mood for any of those, you should not go here. But the lobster was the best my girlfriend had while in Iceland, and my lamb fillet was quite good also. The restaurant can get a bit loud, but it's got good ambiance and was only 15 minutes from Selfoss.

“Worth the journey out from Reykjavik”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2009

This speciality lobster restaurant is very close to the coast and about half an hour's drive out of the city. It appears reasonably priced in comparison with many of the seafood restaurants in Reykjavik and mainly frequented by locals, which is usually a good sign. We had the 'village lobster' in garlic butter with a couscous salad at 5,000 krona a head (for the large portion). It was all cooked superbly well. The decor is typically unpretentious and the service is friendly and prompt. I'd recommend the chocolate pudding as well. Also, if having a beer, and why wouldn't you given the price of wine in Iceland, I'd suggest having a Brennevin schnapps with it . All Icelandic beer is pretty tasteless (Egils Gul is one of the slightly better ones) so having an excellent Brennevin with one makes the beer rather more worthwhile.

“Excellent lobsters!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2008

A cozy seafood restaurant in the small coastal village of Stokkseyri about 60km/45minutes from Reykjavik. You should definitely stop here for dinner if you're travelling south/east from Reykjavik on Road 1 - book a table!

The place was packed on a dark September Sunday evening when we arrived there. We had booked a table in advance and indeed had a lovely table at the back, by the window. The decorations have a sea-theme and everything including the plates and menus look lovely. Try the lobster! They are a small, local breed and the main course is served in a cute bucket where the lobsters soak in garlic butter. Probably the yummiest thing I've tasted!

The staff was terrific and the service was excellent; nothing at all to complain. The prices are ok, the same or a bit lower than similar level places in Reykjavik.
