As mentioned in the title, the food is good and the service is friendly. Pick of the village in terms of dining.

“EXCEPTIONAL FOOD”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

We have visited the Derwentwater Arms several times. Each time the food is excellent, and extremely good quality and presentation and a varied menu. The staff extremely friendly and welcoming. Food reasonably priced and good sized portions. Highly recommend for a good evening out relaxing over good food and wine with friends.

“Great pub!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

We stopped here on the way up to Stockport, having seen the many favourable reviews on Trip Advisor.
Admittedly, we were the only customers (this was in the middle of the freezing cold snap), but the service was excellent and we couldn't have been better looked after. The menu is small (usually a good sign,in my experience), thus everything was cooked from fresh. Being lunchtime we ordered the 'small' portions, but what arrived was at least 'standard' - excellent value. Would recommend the hand made chips - superb.
The pub itself is quite unfussy in decor and very comfortable. There were a couple of real ales to hand and my pint of Adnams was obviously well kept and tasted delicious.
All in all that unusual thing nowadays - a place that really cares about its customers.

“Lovely food and service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

Met for a business meal and both indulged ourselves with a "small" fish and hand cut chips as it was cold outside and warm and cosy within ! Absolutely gorgeous hot tasty food - really quite a lot for a small portion with perfect mushy peas too - pudding was shared and there was plenty for two ! Amazing value and fast friendly service - would definitely go again

“Hen Party”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013

We booked a table for dinner whilst on my daughters hen weekend. When we arrived the lovely people at the Derwentwater Arms had set up a private room for us and decorated it beautifully with hearts and candles. So much more than we expected it made our evening really special and the food was excellent, superb steak.
