This road-side restaurant is on the busy Sondrio-Tirano-Bormio route, and literally thousands of people must drive by it without noticing it. Which is a great shame, because it's got a strong local following and serves beautiful local-ingredient meals.
We ate: local Pizzocheri, several different kinds of Bresaola, a potato-and-cheese dish called Tarroz, Deer fillets, home-cured vegetables.
Unexpected dessert: wild strawberry Cheesecake! (a dish the owner's wife learned from her few years spent living in upstate New York, of all places).
We drank: excellent value (10 Euro?) wine from the vignards behind the restaurant (the valley is dotted with terrific wine producers; Bettini, Fraccia and Nino Negri top name a few).
I absolutely love coming here.
