“Excellant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

The owner and his wife were very welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much trouble and they were very helpful. We had a superior room which was large, very comfortable and kept clean during our five day stay, the menus were reasonably extensive and the food was fantastic - we ate in every evening but went out for breakfast. The large garden provided a pleasant spot to enjoy the late afternoon sun and there were swings and slides etc for very young children. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel and recommend it.

We had an excellent stop over at this Hotel on our journey, a real oasis of quality and stress relief.
Nothing was too much trouble.
Excellent toddler provision from the wonderfully equiped garden, to the sympathetic attention at meal times.
Food excellent.
Close to Montignac.

Room Tip: All seem good.

This hotel is a hidden gem in Montignac. The rates are superb for what you get, though I did get a free upgrade because the hotel was relatively empty.
Each room is beautifully redone, since it has been under new management in 2010. My room - 3 - had a nice sofa, LCD TV and comfortable double bed with several pillows (never a given in France). But there was also a nice and totally unexpected iPod docking station for playing music. The shower in the bathroom had a waterfall shower and was divine to use.
It was a very hot day and the rooms do not have air conditioning, so the heat did come outside. But an open window during the night does wonder and does keep one close with nature, which is a theme of this hotel.

Dinner in the hotel was nice - you can sit outside on a good day - with a short but good wine menu. The food was prepared with love and extremely good value for money and potentially the best food served in the immediate area, I think. Breakfast was typically French.

Room Tip: The hotel has loads of games and activities for children, but it has no pool.

We wish that Jean was in our city! Nothing was too much trouble for him. He organised our tickets to Lascaux II, searched the internet for specialty shops and took excellent care of our bikes. The hotel makes a great effort to minimise their impact on the environment. For example, by having quality jars of local produce. Dinner and breakfast were both outstanding. The rooms are spacious, spotless with quality linen. Jean has good English and nothing phases him. We plan to return.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2012

I stayed here in April with my two children and my parents. The owners are wonderful! They are so kind and helpful. Each morning the owner-chef made delicious fresh crepes. The children especially enjoyed the garden, which has a small trampoline and chickens and rabbits. We ate in the restaurant one night and thought it was very good. The superior room was not large but was comfortable with an excellent bathroom. To be honest it was a little crowded for 1 adult and 2 kids for 3 nights and could probably use more storage space -- either a larger wardrobe or a dresser. My parents room was a standard room and although comfortable was also quite small. I think it depends on the length of stay. The hotel is walking distance to the section of Montignac that has restaurants and shops, although it is across the river from what appears to be the older and more picturesque part of town. It is not a luxury hotel but it was great for our trip. You are about a 5 min drive from Lascaux II (but buy tickets at the billeterie in town first) and about a 25 min drive from Les Eyzies. The town of Montignac is beautiful and not as touristy as Les Eyzies.

Room Tip: Definitely choose a superior room because they are larger. The beds and sofa bed are quite comforta...

Our hotel room was lovely--spacious, with modern style and a very comfortable bed. We ate dinner in the restaurant twice, trying different things and all were delicious. The owners were welcoming and overall the whole experience was very comfortable. We didn't have the children with us, but noticed several families in the dining room, and can recommend it also to family travellers. Also affordable.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2012

My partner and I stayed here for 4 nights and were very pleased with our choice. The owners were very welcoming and have obviously put a lot of thought into bringing the rooms up to date, providing nice furnishings and a modern bathroom. Despite the sub zero temperatures outside, the room was always warm and comfortable, which made for a relaxing stay. We would definitely recommend the hotel and will gladly return when we are next in the area.
