“An Amazing Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

This was an amazing experience, both for adults and children alike. It is a must see if you are in the area. They have English and French guides and their knowledge on the cave was exceptional. It was a wonderful experience.

Thank you for giving us your opinion about your visit. Lascaux II is a magic place, indeed. You can follow Lascaux II on the social networks with Les Grands Sites du Périgord. It will be a pleasure to see you again in Dordogne !

“Simply amazing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

We visited the place in November so no english tour available and i had to translate everything to my partner and missing a part of explanation. But being 6 persons in the cave at the same time was priceless and the tour guide was repeating some on the info as she had the time. Apparently being there on a small group was nice for her too :D

Once inside, words could not describe what your eyes witness.

40 minutes visites, 9 euros entrance

“Yes it is worth it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

While it may be a reproduction, (that itself is amazing), they do have tours in English, but there may be a wait to get on this English tour, so perhaps book ahead and then you will know what time to turn up. The caves are just outside of Montignac, at times during the busy season you have to get the tickets in the town, check the website. Well worth the effort.

“Worth whatever you have to do to get there!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

For many years, I had been longing to visit the caves at Lascaux. When I finally got there I was thrilled and not at all disappointed that what you actually see is a reproduction. These prehistoric cave paintings are so spectacular, they will take your breath away. That is why you simply must get tickets in advance. Only small groups are admitted at a time and each visit is timed so do not travel all that way only to be disappointed.
Seeing the art created 15,000 years ago will forever challenge any notions you have had about "cave men", I guarantee. There is a wild beauty to the animals and their relationship to one another that will take you deep into the puzzle of their meaning to early Cro-Magnon. The accompanying museum is set up very clearly and will help you to put the paintings in context. We were fortunate to have hired Steve from cavesandcastles.com to accompany us through the cave and a few others in the area. He is incredibly well versed on both the anthropological history of the caves of southwestern France as well as the medieval castles and their function in more recent history, that is, the Middle Ages. Travel in this region is difficult, if not impossible, without a car and Steve can help you with that, too.

“Wonderful, fascinating insight into prehistory”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012 via mobile

This is fascinating and a wonderful journey into the mind of prehistoric artists. It's amazing the perspective of these artists. The animals seem to almost be alive. This is of course a recreation but the rica has remained true to the original. A fantastic experience if you love prehistory. A must see.
