“Heaven on Earth with Owners from Another Time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

This lovely agriturismo is smack in the heart of the beautiful Tuscan hills. I spent there 4 nights (well, 3 - more below) during my recent trip to Italy. The property functioned as my "hub" during a 4-day motorcycle bender during which we cross-crossed every possible winding road between Tuscany and Emilia Romagna.

The owners are incredibly welcoming. Every evening, upon our return, we would find a cold beer and either freshly made bruschette or schiacciate. Sitting on the porch or in the back garden with the gentle breeze, the birds chirping, the bell of the nearby church ringing.... I mean, it's an experience from another world. Your heart actually slows down and you feel the tension wash away.

The restaurant is incredible. The meat is superb. Wild boar ("cinghiale") is something else. Have the fiorentina steak with truffled potatoes. If you can stay more than one night, try everything you can. The house wine is better than many super-priced bottles I can find in NY.

Breakfast is very nice, with yummy home-made cakes.

The rooms are comfortable, spotlessly clean, very welcoming and with great beds and mattresses. My room was not very big, but frankly I don't go to Tuscany to spend my time in a room watching TV - I want to spend all my time outside so it was perfectly fine.

Now, a family emergency forced us to leave the hotel in a hurry at 7 pm the 3rd night. The owner didn't make any issues. He inquired about the nature of the emergency, bid us good fortune and did not even charge us for the room (!!). Find that in the USA. When I went to the bar to settle my tab (you remember the cold beers? the bruschette? the schiacciate?) I was told that they were on the house and not to worry. I mean, seriously? When was the last time an establishment offered you a beer for free.

It still feels like I spent 4 days out of a dream between the beautiful surroundings and the experience at the hotel. Not to be missed.

In a lovely peaceful, pretty area in striking distance of Florence. A very warm welcome and a nice room with a big balcony, bathroom was err interesting, but it worked ok. Good aircon. Had a really good meal in the restaurant, lots of local delicacies. And breakfast included some delicious cake filled with a creamy custard and covered with almonds. Delicious! Wifi worked well too. Would recommend.

We stayed at this charming hotel for two nights and truly enjoyed its setting in the landscape of Tuscany with its rolling hills and cypress trees. The hotel is old style, furnished with traditional last century furniture and limited conveniences (e.g. no fridge, limited storage and space), but it was very clean and practical - in other words, good value for the money. The private bath was fully euqiped with towels, hair dryer and soap, etc. A covered private veranda allowed a leisurely Apero with a view of the gardens and the farming landscape surrounding it. A major surprise and highlight was the renowned restaurant in the building, with its chef Mirella and very attentive and friendly staff. Tuscan cuisine and specialties at their best, coupled with an extensive wine cellar, made for a very memorable dinner ($$$).
Unfortunately, the hotel is not easy to find and it is 45 minutes away from Florence by car, but it is a good place to stop while driving through Tuscany or visitng the nearby Motorway (Mugella) or the famous Outlet Mall nearby. Little English was spoken, and communication was not easy as we did not speak much Italian, however, everyone tried very hard to please their guests. The Hotel and restaurant really reprenent Tuscany and Italy, and we recommend it to value seekers and gourmets alike.
