“High quality and great service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

We had a great lunch at Coccinella on a rainy, foggy November day. We appreciated the availability of parking in the rear of the establishment. The warm, cozy interior was filled with small groups of what appeared to be mostly Italian clientele. The service was excellent and each dish was well prepared and beautifully served. We got the mixed antipasti. Each dish was like a painting on a plate and very tasty too. The sfogliatine di zucca carmellata was fabulous. We enjoyed the galletto ruspante in fricassee which had a great flavor. The ravioli di Tuma (pecorino) al burro di zucca was good. The pumpkin flavor was pretty subtle though. The gelato di nocciola was great for dessert and the tortino di cioccolato or soufflé di mele both sounded wonderful but we had run out of room! We’ll definitely go back!

“Very rich, great for special occasions”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

Great food to be eaten here, but if you are a tourist (aren't we all?) they will likely put you in the back room/corner.

Food was divine and incredibly rich. Wine list was good value as well. Would come again, but would be more firm about not being rushed through last courses, as the final main course, dessert and coffee all occurred in less than a 10 minute time span. A tad rushed in the end for such a gourmet meal, but honestly, not to be missed.

“One of the best in the Alba region!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

Thursday 11.10.12 we were 8 Norwegian friends celebrating that one of us had reach 50 years and still going strong.
La Coccinella was recommended by an Italian web site and we had in advance been in direct contact with Alessandro letting him decide a 7 course meal and relevant wines.
It was a fantastic evening. Perfect prepared and very interesting food. A friendly and informal service - a lot of jokes and laughter shared.
The wines - mostly unknown to us - well paired with the food.
The price for evening was more than reasonable.
Highly recommended - much better than the other meals we had that week in the Alba region, including those restaurants with a Michelin star.

“What a Wonderful Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

Brothers Alessandro, Massimo and Tiziano create a special atmosphere with their charm and humor. And the food is some of the best you can find anywhere! They specialize in local seasonal specialties but with Massimo's (the chef) innovations.

“I must be missing something...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

For all the great reviews here, I think maybe something went wrong with my experience. The restaurant is nice; pretty and comfortable ambiance. The hosts are polite and kind. The dinning room is comfortable with classic old bottles of wine laying around.

The cuisine was very bland and boring, as much as I hate to say. I think perhaps I ordered the wrong foods because the locals I ate with both had fish plates. Both my dishes were respectfully small, expensive, and did not pack any flavor but well presented.

The wine list was good and fairly priced, however; it was more concerned with big name producers than remarkable wines from all over.

For the value and what this brought to the table, both literally and figuratively, I would seek out other restaurants in the area, as there are plenty of amazing places to eat in Piemonte.
