“An absolute gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2011

We stayed here while walking the Camino Portugues en route to Santiago de Compostela and were hugely impressed by the friendliness and efficiency of Antonio and his staff - unbeatable. The rooms were beautiful as was the whole house and its surrounds. The village is peaceful & quiet and the countryside lovely. The food was amazing and beautifully served. If only we could have stayed longer!

We were absolutely delighted with ever aspect of this place. The owner Antonio and his assistant Andreus were so welcoming and generous. This place was paradise, beautiful grape vine pergolas, stunning swimming pool, fabulous rooms (we stayed upstairs and had our own balcony and bathroom).
For a small cost they serve a great dinner in their own dining area. Breakfast was free. Lots to see and do near by. They have a table tennis room and a off-road cart you can hire. Old Celtic ruins in the mountains are not far away. It is quite isolated so you do need a car, but it's well worth the travel to get there, and with such amazing hosts you won't be disappointed. We only wish we could have stayed longer! Also they hire out for wedding functions in a beautiful setting.

We had a pleasant room with a good contemporarily designed bathroom. The owner seemed friendly and spoke good English. However the bed was rock hard and the mattress was covered with some kind of dimpled firm rubber mat that was like lying on a rubberised bed of nails. We assumed that it was some kind of orthopaedic bed, totally unsuited to normal sleep. In the corner of the room was a cheep fridge that was some kind of mini-bar. About every half hour throughout the night the fridge started up with a sound like a pneumatic drill, stopping with bangs and wheezes. The Quinta is in the centre of the village next to the church and clock tower. The clock strikes every hour but due to some mechanical fault having struck the hour, five minutes later it struck the hour again! We heard them all! I would not recommend this room. We did not experience the pool or stay for breakfast.

This family run guest house is a wonderful place to stay if you want to explore the area north of Porto. It's located in a very small village so you do need a car. The house has rooms with private baths or shared baths. We had a very spacious room with a private bath and our room also had a sitting area with a couch and chairs. Also, there is a really nice swimming pool. They have a very good breakfast also. The owner is very helpful and speaks English, French, and Spanish. The house is surrounded by a stone wall and there is nice courtyard inside. I recommend this place if you want to experience the countryside in Portugal.
