In short - a comfortable serviced apartment that could use a bit of a scrub.
In detail - we chose to stay at the Quest Moonee Valley on our last trip to Melbourne as we were traveling during the Australian Open tennis tournament and most of the CBD hotels were either full or had hiked up their room rates excessively.
We stayed in a two bedroom apartment for one night. It was relatively modern and comfortable but looked like it need a bit of a scrub. Whilst all the bed linen and towels etc were spotless some of the walls and doors and dirt marks and scuffs on them, the front door had a big chip out of it and the sofas had stains on them. These things stood out because the rest of the apartment was so nice. We didn't see any other rooms so we're not sure if this problem only applied to our room.
Parking is provided free on site. Access is through a secure boom gate that uses your room key to open.
We had a slight hassle on check in - there was no one at reception. We turned up 15 minutes before our allotted check in and had to wait a few minutes before someone showed up. It might be best to call ahead if you're early, or late.
The only real downside for this hotel is that it is a bit out of the city. If you're in a cab you'd be up for at least $15 for a ride into the CBD. But if you were going to the zoo or to the State Netball and Hockey Centre it's not too far away - a drive though, not a walk.
There is definitely not a lot of food options - unless you like KFC. There are a couple of asian restaurants nearby - perhaps a 5 to 10 minute walk.
