“Five Star”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

A most beautiful property set in lovely tranqual grounds. A very classy premises which hits you as soon as you step inside. The decor is in keeping with the building and the finish is to an outstanding standard. The hosts Colin and Annie were lovely and extremely welcoming and the perfect hosts. As another review states, always there if you need them but quietly available in the background. We stayed in the Chesil room and it was spotlessly clean, spacious and beautifully decorated. It has a door leading out into the grounds at the rear of the property which we were unfortunately unable to make the most of due to the weather, but must be a huge plus in the spring and summer months. The food was delicious. We had both breakfast and also an evening meal on our first night. The dining area is a lovely spacious bright room which is accessed via a lovely cosy seating area, with a wood burning fire. Overall, a warm, welcoming, cosy and classy property which fully deserves its five star rating. Strongly recommended. If arriving in the dark, Munden House is the first property on your right as you turn into the lane from the main road.

Room Tip: As per my main review. Stayed in the Chesil which was excellent. Strongly recommeded although I can...

This is a beautiful property in a perfect location. My stay exceeded my (high) expectations in that the hosts were so very welcoming; the room was spacious and spotlessly clean; the breakfast gorgeous - clearly made using local produce. I will definitely be returning.

My wife & I spent one night here recently. Munden House is out in the sticks, but we were given excellent directions by the owners. The welcome was very warm & friendly without being over the top. Our room was very comfortable & clean, with a pleasing outlook on to the garden.
The breakfast was outstanding. Largely home made with locally sourced ingredients the food was both plentiful & delicious. If we pass this way again we would be hard put to resist the delights of Munden House.

Perfectly run by a great couple. Always there if you need them, but quietly available in the background. Very helpful of hints in the surrounding area to visit, and have a really nice sense of humour!! Very attentive staff. Great rooms, beautifully kept and comfortable. A genuine jewel, which must just simply be visited to fully appreciate its true charm.!!

Having read reviews of Munden House on Tripadvisor we decided to book an overnight stay en route to Cornwall, and were not disappointed. We booked 2 rooms, as we were travelling with friends from Austria, and were delighted with the warmth of our welcome, the comfort of our rooms, which were very comfortable and spotlessly clean. A nice touch was the flask of fresh milk for tea/coffee etc. We had booked an evening meal and Annie cooked us a really delicious meal from locally sourced ingredients, accompanied by a bottle of Italian wine, recommended by Colin.
After a very good night's sleep we were given an excellent English breakfast. Our friends were very pleased with our choice, especially as they don't have anything similar in the way of accommodation in Austria generally.

We hope to return in the not too distant future.

We booked this as a last minute stay to belatedly celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary just for one night.
We received a warm welcome when we arrived to stay in the Garden room which was very cosy .
Ann & Colin served a superb dinner that evening and the atmosphere in the dining room was lovely as it was also for the excellent breakfast cooked the following morning. All food is fresh, either home grown or sourced locally as I understand it and you can certainly tell.
Excellent food, lovely hosts, and a fantastic place to stay to visit Sherborne and the surrounding area.
We could not recommend it more highly and intend to stay there again when the opportunity arises.

We were shown to our room 'Lulworth' which just happened to be the bridal suite. It was very comfortable well appointed room and bathroom (no block soap) good job we weren't just married as the walls were thin we could hear the occupants of the room next door, movement, toilet flushing and talking. Breakfast was very good as were the couple who were looking after us,my only gripe was the playing of the radio around 8.00a.m even on the Sunday, situate immediately below our room. All very clean but we were surprised by the amount of spiders.

Room Tip: Don't choose Lulworth
