We booked this hotel for two nights through wotif which it is a self rated 4 1/2 star with 40 LUXURIOUS rooms and beautiful pictures of the gardens and a couple of nice room shots through their website. We only got through one night. The room we were given was 3 star at best. The gardens were the only thing worthy of this rating. It started when we received a phone call from reception at 4.30pm asking for our time of arrival and because we were not going to get there until 7 pm we were told the key would be left in the room for us. When we arrived we were greeted with a room that had an unpleasant smell and the bathroom had mould all around the roof. We also were without a remote control to work the air conditioner to heat the room so we were left to freeze on a cold Melbourne night with our 4 month old son. We tried to ring reception thinking it may go to an after hours number of someone who could at least get us a remote to heat the room but went straight to answering machine that they wouldn't be open until morning. So we were stuck in this room for the night. Then to keep with the disasters the bed was the most uncomfortable we've ever slept on and after we turned the television off we were greeted with the noise of the mini bar fridge fan which sounded as it was icing over and making a loud clicking noise which I had to switch off at the power point to stop the noise. After getting through the night we hopped in the shower to find the shower screen wouldn't stay in place so you had to hold it from swinging into the shower while you were in there. We booked and paid for two nights but after that night I asked the reception for a refund for our second night for what we had to put up with the previous night. After telling us that she didn't have the authority to give us a refund she said she would ring the owner and discuss our situation with him and that he would call us to discuss the matter. We are still waiting for a phone call a week later. Worst hotel experience we have had.
