“Loved it.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

Our annual Veterans Day getaway for our anniversary landed us in Big Bear this year. The Pine Knot Guest Ranch was perfect. We were in Cabin 20 which was seperated from the other cabins on a hill. It had a king size bed, wood burning fireplace, huge jacuzzi tub, and kitchenette. The kitchenette had a coffee maker, cutlery, plates and cups and a small refrigerator/freezer with ice cube trays. There were two skylights that were lovely. The front balcony had chairs with a beautiful view of the llama pen and peek a boo views of the lake. The location is great, just a few blocks from the village. Highly recommended.

Our first experience here and it was incredile! The service was wonderful, the cabin was clean and cozy and i felt like i was home! We stayed in Cabin 19 and it looked just like the picture. The jacuzzi was big and clean. The cabin was well kept and the bed was comfortable. Walking distance from the village and super close to everything in big bear. We came at the end of October so it was quiet there but still lots to see. There was a suprise snowfall and they were sure to plow the roads so it was easy to travel the following day. The staff was extremely friendly and accomodating. It is family owned and they were so polite and knowledgeable. We brought our pet and they were very attentive to Bailey's needs and making sure we had a great vacation. Gloria was amazing and very helpful!! Will definitely be back!

This was a fantastic hideaway in big bear lake. Just two blocks from the village, shops and restaurants, but had complete privacy. We stayed in cabin 18 and had a very comfortable bed, nice tv, which could be seen from bed or the jacuzzi tub. The jacuzzi tub was wonderful after a long day. Nice little kitchenette, with small refrigerator and microwave, plus a beautiful fireplace. My husband loved walking and visiting the llamas. We would definitely come back. Lisa was extremely friendly and very helpful. Dog friendly, a nice plus.

We really enjoyed the stay and will definitely be coming back. I expected the cabins to be more spaced out and was worried about noise since pets are welcome. Pleasantly surprised, we didn't hear anything when we were in the cabin and the space between each cabin was enough to feel secluded, but close enough to feel 'home-y'. It was close enough to the village to walk to it, though we didn't take advantage of the convenience.

Loved this little family owned guest ranch. It was perfect for us and our dog. It was quiet, and the perfect place to go to get away from it all. Within walking distance of the village, we walked there often. Our dog was allowed off leash on the ranch property, and she loved going to check out the llamas. We had the upstairs cabin above the front office. I loved the little kitchen and we cooked there every day. The only thing I was disappointed about was the tub. I was so looking forward to a Jacuzzi bath, but the jets just weren't clean enough for me. Other than that, I will be back, I loved this place.

I didn't really want to review this property. I figured the less said, the better... for my family and me. However, with the number of reviews already here, I may as well add my two cents. Located a short distance from The Village at Big Bear, it's far enough away to be considered "off the beaten path", but close enough to be within walking distance, if you don't mind the incline on the walk back.

My family of four stayed in cabin #17, one of three (more or less) identical stand alone cabins on the property. There are no surprises, as the cabin and amenities are exactly as advertised on the website, and it was the perfect size for us and our 7 and 4 year-old boys. The boys enjoyed being able to hang in the in-room jacuzzi while watching TV. We had opportunity to use the grill at the bottom of the stairs outside our cabin (each cabin has one. Bring charcoal) and relax in the common grassy area on the property. Pine Knot is a pet-friendly property and there were a number of dogs visiting with their owners during our stay. If you are not a dog person, you might want to consider staying elsewhere. If you aren't a llama person, then most definitely stay away lol. The Ranch has two llamas that you can pet, feed, and walk around the property common area. There are two bunnies there, as well. There is also an old-school metal jungle gym, although a couple of the swings were in disrepair.

The property rep, Gloria, was helpful and pleasant. The office seems to be usually unoccupied, but assistance is only a couple of minutes away on the premises.

The only minor drawback was that the cabin was a bit dusty, which caused us all to have slight sneezing fits early in our stay.

We found the location due to an internet deal and enjoyed our find immensely. We hope to come back during the winter, as there is an area for sledding that we think the boys will enjoy. However, in reading the other reviews, we don't think that there will be any deals offered during snow season. *sigh* Oh well...

Room Tip: Cabin #17 is an end unit, which is nice, but the furthest of the three identical cabins from the par...

Guess we are going to make it annual family trip as kids asked to go back this year they had such a great time last year.
Bears Den is the perfect little house for our family and 2 dogs with the fenced yard and the washer and dryer.
Love having a full kitchen to cook vs. eating out too.
Will be back next year I am sure.
