Owner description: The Big Bear Alpine Zoo is a rehabilitation facility offering injured, orphaned and imprinted wild animals a safe haven; temporarily while they heal or permanently as they are unable to survive on their own.We are extremely proud that 90% of all the animals brought to us for rehabilitation are successfully released back into their native environment. Those that remain with us on exhibit are either too injured or have been imprinted by humans and can not be released back into the wild to care for themselves.

“Awesome even if you're not an animal lover!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

Being an animal rescuer myself, sis and ma KNEW I'd get to this place on our trip recently whether they wanted to or not. Both of them while they love animals are not nuts like I am and LOVED it. Seeing these rescued animals who'd otherwise in most cases be dead, be rehabilitated back to health and released if possible was so awe inspiring. Please make sure to get there or stay around the noon hour as that is when they have a talk and teach session WITH an animal. Place is very easy to navigate and make sure to bring some spare change to help the lions get some more exercise equipment. Incredible to say the least!!

“Little Zoo with Character”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2012

My kids and I visited the Moonridge Animal Park last week. It was a nice zoo with grizzly bears and black bears, which you would expect from Big Bear. They also had raccoons, porcupines, a mountain lion, bobcat, coyotes, wolves and several other species. It was not very big and we only spent a couple of hours there. However, the price was reasonable and the staff was very informative and helpful. I would recommend.

“Interesting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2012

Many of the animals are being rehabilitated from injuries or are there for other reasons they cannot be in the wild. It was interesting and a nice way to spend a couple of hours.

“Rescue Zoo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2012

We liked the fact that the animals were all rescued. It is a very nice little zoo with avariety of animals that the children especially liked to watch.

“Good for short visits”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2012

Smallish zoo - lots of bears- FREE feeding tour in summer at 3pm. You can go in morning and they let you back in for FREE in afternoon. Takes about 30-45 minutes to get through. They are working on new site.
