“It was fine!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2014

First, I liked the clean rooms, new tv, and a very clean bathrooms. However, the location of the hotel is not close to any entertainment or restraunts. You would need to ride a car in order to go somewhere. When night comes, it's a bit scary because there is nothing around you. No light or any view of the streets that made me scared. But I would say that this hotel is OK to stay for 2 to 4 nights. Free private parking available with a breakfast with a few bagels, cereals, and some beverages. I would come here again!!

Considering its a Travelodge, didn't find this to be too bad. Stayed for two nights. Room was pretty decent. It is a motor-hotel so doors to the rooms are on the outside of the building. Free breakfast but really basic (individually wrapped pastries etc.) Plenty of parking. Free in-room wifi worked fine and speed was pretty good too.

Minor issues - in room A/C was really loud - kept getting too hot during the night without it so had to have it on, but made it hard to sleep. And water temperature in the shower was an issue - the first day it was scalding hot and difficult to adjust to a comfortable temperature. The next day, couldn't get it any hotter than lukewarm.

As long as you have a car, location is not bad - easy drive to the village shops and restaurants of around 2 miles, and perhaps 5 or 6 mile easy drive to Bear Mountain.

Booked last minute, on-line, sight unseen and chose the least cost option for the stay. A formula for disaster normally but what a pleasant surprise! Would have been happy to have paid half again as much as the one night stay. The property shows that it has been recently updated or perhaps super well maintained, clean, reasonably well appointed and a great staff. A very weak "continental breakfast" (coffee and juice) was the only letdown.

Room was fine, however it would have been nice to take a hot shower instead of cold. Hard mattress too

I travel frequently, over 50 nights per year, and for the most part stay in Hilton hotels, so I am used to a little nicer hotels. Because Hilton Hotels have nothing up in big-bear we decided to go with a cheaper brand. We stayed there last Saturday night, and while the room was clean, it was outdated (popcorn ceilings, the phone was colored from age, 1970/1980's cabinets and sinks). We ordered pizza from the local Domino's and I needed change so I sent my son over to the front desk, they were unable to break a $20, luckily the driver had change. Overall, I would say the place is okay if you are looking just for a place to sleep, but don't expect to much.

Worn fixtures, unfinished patchwork in walls, popcorn ceiling, no hot water at times, and a heater that can not be regulated at one temperature. No weather seals on door. These rooms need modernization. The front desk was nice and helpful and TV was OK. Wifi cut out sporadically.
