The area and surroundings are nice and are situated on the Swedish country side. The mansion house and buildings around gives a nice impression upon arrival. The reception area is in the main building that consists of the breakfirst, lunch, dining and bar area together with 8 single occupancy rooms. The interior is a mix from different periods but somehow it works. It is a three floor mansion house with the reception area and breakfirst/lunch room on the first, the dining room on the second an a bar och the top floor. I you have double occupany or a suite you will stay in one of the side buildnings. So when booking make sure that you get a clear understanding of where and what roomtype you get since the rooms are quite different. The SPA is also in a separate building down by the water stream approx 100 meters from the main buildning. Upon arrival we where welcomed by the receptions staff that where nice and helpful. We where placed in the (Post building), room 403 which was a corner room with a view over the water. The room had quite old but coozy interior and was clean and nice. The beds where ok and we had a good night sleep. The bathroom where somewhat a disapointment (other people had the same opinion) that had plastic floors, white tiles and where very "not mansion like".
In the package we bought (1 night/day) was included lunch on arrival day, full access to the new built and renovated SPA (also had a basic gym), afternoon tea, dinner and a 50 minutes SPA treatment all at a very reasonable price. The buffet lunch was basic and could have been a little bit more upscale but tasted ok. The lunch area (also for breakfirst and afternoon tea) was quit boring and needs an update like cloth on the table, same candle lights and an updated set of flowers and plants. The staff was nice but had a hard time to answer questions about what was served. The afternoon tea was only some small cookies and pastry that could have been presented in a nicer way but at least it seemed to been home made. The dinner area is nicer and the atmosphere is warm. The staff is nice, observant and knowledgable. The dinner was a three course menue and a recommended wine package could be included. The food was good but not great. The recommended wines where however very good.
The SPA area includes a pool with very warm water and relax areas (nice!) a sauna (ordinary and we had to ask them to put it on), a shop, threatment rooms and a small basic gym. There is also a SPA suite with a private steam sauna, jaccuzzi and haman stone bed as well as a relax area. This can be rented per hour and looked really nice, Perfect for some quality privacy. The SPA threatment which was included in the price was really nice and can be highly recommended.
Overall we had a nice stay but the concept needs some refinement as well as some additional touch and changes to the interior and atmosphere in order to move up the value chain. There is a lot of competition in this space and in order to be more competitive improvments are needed in order not to be average. If you have your ways around don't hesitate to stay there for a night or two but do some inquiry selecting the room to maximize your experience.
