“Jewel Keeps on Shining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2011

We returned to this lovely place, for our anniversary. We were wed at the end of the beach of this stylish and laid back villa hotel and enjoyed it beyond measure. To keep it short, this is a place for those that can enjoy being away from the noise and bustle and take in the bliss of an open air serene environment. The staff and management were like old family and the welcoming treatment was more than appreciated. Silverpoint is special to us for many reasons, but returning to enjoy its relaxing ambiance was confirmation of its uniqueness. The chefs and staff must be complimented because the food here is excellent. Based on prices around the island, the prices are comparable and the preparation of the food is aesthetically pleasing. Do yourself well by staying here and enjoying the best of Barbados not found amongst the crowded lights.

The biggest problem of the hotel is that it's in the middle of nowhere, no restaurtants and no supermarkets around. If you want to find something, you need to take a mini bus (very good during the day, but not at night) for at least half an hour or a taxi which is expensive. If you rent a car, pay attention! Almost no indication and even with navigator is really hard to find the hotel, expecially during the evening. The restaurant of the hotel is good but limited menu and not cheap (because it's the only one!). Nice beach close to the hotel. Room was clean, but we had a problem with the toilet and the bathroom was full of dirty water. It was 9 pm, we took half an hour to find someone (the reception closes during the night) and they took one hour to clean up everything. We asked to change the room but they didn'tdo it. They did not even apologize for the inconvenience! The extra money for the partial ocean view are wasted, because we actually could see a corner of the sea, but the view is on a parkink!

We stayed there on a staycation special for our anniversary July this year. Check-in was easy and breezy, plus we were upgraded to a wonderful ocean front room for free! :) the room was lovely, new and clean with simple but elegant finishings...
loved hanging out on the day beds and watching the kitesurfers!
the food is a quite pricey but very good (i had eaten there prior). in any case it's a short trip from the hotel to a mini mart and then into oistins or silversands to get a little more affordable food.
all in all - a lovely boutique hotel with fantastic views and ambience. highly recommend!

My friends and I went to Barbados a couple of years ago and stayed at Silver Point. We really enjoyed our stay. The room was a pretty good size and pretty modern. The restaurant/bar had good food and yummy drinks and wasn't too expensive. The staff was a lot of fun and I still keep in touch with some of them. The only down side is the fact that it is kind of far from the downtown area with nightlife..but there is transportation available.

We stayed here last 2 weeks in August (stayed an extra night because I messed up our dates!). The hotel is great value for money and we didn't have a single problem with it other than the A/C breaking down, which was quickly sorted (we were given a fan for the night it was broken). The staff are all very helpful. I've seen a couple of reviews which take issue with things and can only say that we found the hotel in a decent state of repair and that Barbados, like every other Caribbean island, is an island of contrast. So you will find expensive housing right next door to run down housing. Please believe me, the hotel is not in a ghetto (unless you want to class the whole of Barbados as such!). The beach is great and safe to use. Go into town on the reggae taxis ($2 Barbados for most journeys). Oistins is a must (very good and cheap food). We loved our stay and would recommend Silver Point to everyone without hesitation. Hire a car and go see the island, it really is a beautiful place.

We arrived at Silver Point on the second leg of our honeymoon after 6 nights in Antigua. I found and booked the honeymoon deal through the Silver Point website independently, as Kuoni, the brochure/agency that provided the two-island flight package don't deal with the silver point (Virgin Holidays do if you want package deals).
A pleasant local taxi driver was sent by the hotel for pick up. As it was low season we were offered a choice of seaview suite in the block across the road (bedroom, bathroom, balcony and large living area, big tv, with fully fitted kitchen - cooker hob the works, ok view) or an oceanfront studio on the third floor above the beach. We opted for the superior balcony and view of the studio with the waves rolling ashore just below.
The rooms were lovely as in the pictures, large fridge freezer, microwave and cutlery though no cooker in the studio. I could see some signs of renovation going on in the partial ocean view rooms along the rear aspect of the hotel.
Breakfast was included in our package and was from a special menu with reasonable choice and consistently very good.
We ate a number of meals at the hotel, in part due to the hotels isolation and in part beause it really was good food. Prices were high compared to Northern Ireland but better value than St. Lawrences Gap prices, and to a higher standard. Our first meal was the personalised menu for our honeymoon. The chef, a nice quite friendly guy, (Jeff as far as i remember) came to chat to us and asked if we had any special requests and duely got some coconut ice cream in for my wife to accompany his banana flan (awesome) which was one of three dessert choices provided in a unique menu with the choices of dishes mainy seperate from the standard evening menu.
The waitresses were mostly very nice and friendly, Lornette stood out for us too, real sweet girl :-)
A bottle of champagne and chocolates greeted us on arrival (honeymoon deal again) and were top brands Moet et Chandon and Guylian. The sunset cruise was with the El Tigre catarman company - well worth booking, great crew.
The area wasn't a ghetto as some reviews ascribe to. Compared to Antigua, the nearby homes are brick rather than wood, and well kept. About half are holiday lets from what I could see. There is a community sports pitch around the corner at the back of the beach, a mini-mart, bar/cafe and a hardware business. There are two surf hire places either side of the hotel, but I hired a surfboard from Zed's surf adventures to the east after seeing them online prior to the holiday. I walked over and back a few times to swap boards or change beach and the locals called out in greeting sometimes. You will bump into 'Coconut Man' (and I think I met his brother too!) out and about but he's harmless. He'll offer to retrieve and cut open a coconut for you for a few dollars. I've attached a picture of the street round the corner, in the middle distance where some wooden stalls are being built at the side of the pitch as football season was starting up.

All in all we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is quite luxurious, quiet and relaxed. The dark brown and orange colour scheme looks very tasteful. Extras like the DVD library and fridge freezer are a nice touch. Beach towels and safe were provided as standard without fuss and hassle of deposits and extra charges like I think every other sun holiday i've been on. Two little issues cropped up but were sorted within the hour (the aircon stopped working one morning). The beach was generally near empty apart from some local families on sunday, and occasional surf lessons.
A small negative would be that the shower hot water took a good two minutes to heat up, but i'm guessing this was partly because we were on the third floor.

We stayed in this hotel for 1 night in transit to St. Vincent. The staffs were pretty friendly and professional. This hotel is located close to the international air port but the trip to the hotel takes about 20 minutes because of the route to the hotel. This is not the best location for an extended stay. There is nothing of interest close by. The beach is not great and is not suitable for bathing at some time of the day. The sea can be very rough in the evening. Our room was okay; it was on the ground floor and had the basic hotel amenities. We were not able to get internet connection from inside the room and sporadic connections outside the room. The router is located in the restaurant and internet connection is adequate only in that area.
Beside the hotel restaurant there is no available other restaurants within close proximity of the hotel. One will need a car or to call a taxi to migrate to and from the hotel. There is public transportation on the main road but it requires about a 7 minutes’ walk.
We cancelled our reservation on our return trip to this hotel.
