“The Best B&B Experience of Our Trip to Italy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

This is the perfect B&B experience - Salvatore is a wonderful host with great attention to the details. Breakfast was outstanding and the view from our patio and breakfast spot is the Amalfi coast - what more needs to be said? If at all possible, include this in your trip to the Amalfi coast. LeGhiande at Montepetuso is far better than Positano can offer. We will return and stay longer. The 100 steps do exist but take your time and it is no problem. This is worth it!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view - most seem to have that anyway.

We only got to spend one night here but I wish we could've stayed longer. The location is seriously gorgeous! It's up above Positano so you can look down into it and the bay. Yes, there are like 100 steps to get up to it, but honestly everything in this area involves steps. Their breakfast area is ridiculously nice, with fruit trees and trellises and lounge chairs and even a swinging chair for two. I could've just sat out there all day, except that our room had a private balcony with the same view! I did sit out there for quite a while, just enjoying the scenery.

When we arrived, they sent someone down to carry our luggage up. He carried ALL our luggage and I could barely keep up just on my own. We were greeted by the host who brought out some homemade cookies, pastries, and cappuccino and drinks. He also recommended a few restaurants (all of which turned out to be very good).

The breakfast was super nice, with cappuccinos, fruit juice, fresh fruit, cold cuts, homemade pastries, jams & cookies, cereal, and yogurt. And they would come out periodically to see if we needed anything else.

If we ever go to the Amalfi coast again, we will definitely stay with them! Their prices are also so reasonable my husband couldn't believe they didn't charge more.

If was going back to Positano, this is where I would stay. It's just above positano and so lovely and secluded and quiet with magnificent views over the harbour. The service is fantastic and everything about this place is just great. It's near the top restaurants above town as well.

B&B Le Ghiande in Montepertuso is very close to Positano, which was the last leg of our trip. We were very pleasantly greeted by Salvatore upon arriving much later than expected, and he immediately showed us our immaculate and very spacious room and advised us of where we should have dinner that night! Breakfast each morning was wonderful - Salvatore had a spread of fresh breads and pastries everyday, as well as a large selection of fruits, cereals, meats, cheeses and juices, and offered a variety of coffee services as well. Our stay was wonderful! The B&B is very quiet and quaint, and we had a large sun deck where we could just relax and stare at the ocean after a long afternoon of hiking. Highly recommended - grazie Salvatore!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

We had the pleasure of staying at Le Ghiande for 5 nights in October 2012. It was towards the end of a 5 week family holiday and included my 6 year old daughter. We were travelling on a budget and I hunted online for accommodation in and around Positano without much success. When I found Le Ghiande, the reviews were so good, and the price so reasonable, we decided the stairs would be fine, once we delivered my enormous suitcase to our room. When we arrived, Salvatore and Dimitri came to greet us and amazed us with the ease at which they each popped a 25+ kilo bag on their shoulder and marched up the steps. As we walked through the entrance and passed the beautiful terraced gardens filled with fresh fruits and vegetables, I knew exactly what all the fuss was about. This place really is special and has such a positive energy. Our room was clean and had everything we needed, including a small kitchen and fridge. The view from our balcony was spectacular! My daughter loved wandering around the garden looking for the cats and discovering the enourmous gourds and other interesting plants. Savatore was so helpful, recommending and booking local restaurants where we enjoyed the best meals of our holiday. He also assisted other members of our family to find accommodation when they wanted to join us at short notice and Le Ghiande was booked out. Salvatore invited us and our family (staying elsewhere) to a pizza night, where he cooked the BEST pizza we have ever eaten in his outdoor pizza oven and offered us other homegrown goodies. His family and friends made us feel so welcome. I have never experienced such warm hospitality. Without a doubt, our experience at Le Ghiande was the highlight of our holiday. We hope we are able to return one day and will recommend this B&B to all our friends. Thank you so much Salvatore, Dimitri and everyone at Le Ghiande. I am so pleased we chose to stay a little out of Positano so we were able to see a little of what life is like in your part of the world. Wishing you and your friends and family all the best for the coming years. Thank you for making our stay so special. Michelle, Julian and Mila

This was our first visit to the Amalfi coast and stay at Le Ghiande. Our friends recommended this B&B and we were not disappointed. Rather, we were enchanted with the views, the hospitality and the marvelous breakfasts highlighted by homemade pastries including Tiramisu. Salvatore and his staff including Dmitri were fabulous and amazed us when they greeted us at the foot of the property 100 steps below and sprinted up carrying our luggage much to our surprise and awe. Savatore is gracious and responsive host and exceptionally knowledgeable of the local cuisine, transportation, and terrain. The view is spectacular from the terrace and our room. It is a very fun loving experience. One that we would certainly enjoy again! We are grateful to our dear friends who introduced us to Salvatore and highly recommend Le Ghiande to you.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces the sea.

YES! Until LeGhiande and the Amalfi Coast, we did not return to places (too much yet to be seen). On this second visit we brought friends...and stayed longer.

All that my husband and I wrote in our 2011 TripAdvisor review still holds true. Salvatore is a warm, gracious, and knowledgeable host; the terraced gardens are bountiful and beautiful; breakfast on the terrace is varied and delicious (his uncle is a pastry chef); our room spacious and spotless; and then, there is the view!

LeGhiande’s location offers many options of things to do: catch a local bus at the bottom of the B&B’s steps to Positano and use local buses and ferries to explore other towns along the coast; walk to one of several wonderful local restaurants in the evening; descend the many steps from Montepertuso to Positano; hike the Path of the Gods from Bomerano back to LeGhiande; or relax on the terrace overlooking the Mediterranean, sip red wine and appreciate the tranquility and magic of LeGhiande.

Thank you Salvatore and family
