“Perfect access at Hoe Grange for a celebration”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

Hoe Grange was a perfect find when looking for accessible property in the Peak District. Active wheelchair users enjoyed an easy living week away among friends, total inclusivity. David and Felicity could not have done more to help us, lots to do on the doorstep, and we managed to enable one guest to reach the high peak Trail through the two fields with a "Freewheel" . We climbed at Harborough Rocks, sailed at Carsington, cycled walked and shopped, perfect. Excellently equipped for self catering and comfortably furnished. Bound to be back.

We had a family holiday in July and had a lovely stay, the accommodation was excellent, facilities for our disabled daughter were the best we had stayed in. The welcoming pack was very appreciated and David and Felicity were lovely hosts. This was our first visit but will definitely return and will highly recommend Hoe Grange to our family and friends

Delighted to hear that our disabled facilities are the best ever. We work hard to ensure everyone's stay at Hoe Grange is enjoyable, and are always looking to improve - in the Spring we will have an off-road wheelchair for our guests to hire - come back and try it out.

I stayed at Hoegrange in the Daisybank with a group of girlfriends at the start of October and absolutely loved it. We were after an affordable walking holiday with room for 5 girls to spread out and lots of easily accessible mini adventures to fill a long weekend.
Daisybank feels like a scaninavian mountain lodge inside - very cosy but with plenty of space to spread out. The cabin was clean and functional with everything you could possibly need (including plastic cutlery and glasses for taking on hikes). There were laminated maps which we made use of, and the owners Felicity and David popped in with friendly advice and information. We also took advantage of the hot tub which at first glance looks like a big wooden tub in their backgarden (which it is) but which transforms at night with lanterns and offers a perfect uninterrupted view of the night sky for a spot of star gazing. All the little touches (welcome pack with home-made bread on arrival for example) made it feel like a home away from home and by the end of the weekend we were settled and didn't want to go!

Hoegrange was a perfect little getaway and we fully intend to return.

Room Tip: There is actually alot of Daisybank geared up for disabled customers including a remote controlled b...

We'd had a dreadful journey on the M25 and M1 and arrived at Hoe Grange three hours later than anticipated. We'd kept David and Felicity informed of this and they'd told us not to worry.

On arrival, we immediately loved the farm's setting and atmosphere - nestling in a valley - with cattle grazing alongside the private drive. David and Felicity greeted us enthusiastically and David showed us round our cabin.

It was a joy: it was very well designed as an open plan space, enabling you to cook and eat and watch tv etc all together; it was very stylish and up-to-date with furnishings colour co-ordinated; it was spacious and airy but at the same time cosy (often holiday cottages are undoubtedly cosy but they are often not quite large/light enough); it was immaculately clean, tidy, and fresh looking; the bedroom/bathroom accommodation was ideal with an en-suite shower room off the twin room (suitable for disabled guests) and a main bathroom with jacuzzi bath and clean, modern storage units. The two bedrooms were a good size with wardrobe storage plus dressing tables and bedside tables - one a double and one a twin and they were very attractively furnished.

The Welcome pack which included delicious locally made biscuits (my son loved them and I bought half a dozen more packs to satisfy him) and freshly laid eggs and milk and home-made bread was greatly appreciated - if only all owners of holiday cottages made the effort to welcome their guests in this way.

There was a wealth of literature in the cabin about local attractions and information about Hoe Grange's eco-friendly ethos which was reinforced by the provision of organic toiletries and cleaning products and this certainly appealed to us.

The location was wonderfully quiet and peaceful with an array of farmyard distractions eg two darling chocolate labradors and some highly amusing pigs that weren't doing what David wanted one morning!

The locality in general is pure Peak District bliss with plenty of hill walking available, lovely pubs, historic buildings and the attractive town of Ashbourne, with two leading supermarkets and interesting small niche shops, not too far away. Hoe Grange is indelibly one of my top holiday experiences; I'll never forget it and I hope we can go back.

Room Tip: Rainster cabin open plan accommodation - with east facing kitchen window and west facing sitting ar...

My sister and I took mum back for a second holiday in July and one again David and Felicity were the perfect hosts. Wonderful welcome pack waiting for us and everything we could possibly need to make mum's holiday an enjoyable one. The disabled facilities are second to none but equally the cabins are just a good for able bodied persons. Despite the weather we had a wonderful time and would certainly recommend this quiet and peaceful location to anyone. Hope to be back again.

5 girls stayed here for a long weekend in October.

Arriving late on Friday evening we were greeted by a delicious welcome pack- as our shopping was some 2 hours behind us this was perfect! We stayed in Daisybank and the facilities were excellent- the kitchen is very well stocked with utensils and crockery, they even have plastic verisons for kids (or picnics, or for champagne in the hot tub!). The beds are very comfortable and the cabin was immaculate when we arrived. Toiletries were provided, along with large fluffy towels and soft bedding.

David and Felicity were great hosts- and more than happy to help us find suitable walks and direct us to shops to re stock on red wine. There are plenty of walks straight from your cabin so no need to drive. We did use the hot tub under a beautiful clear sky with lanterns lighting the tub- bottled water was provided and we even saw 2 shooting stars.

We loved waking up to find the dogs and chickens at the door- they're very well behaved apart from the odd paw on the door asking for food...

Overall a perfect break- i'd recommend Hoegrange in an instant and would definitely go back, with friends or family as Hoegrange definitely has something for everyone.
