A large group of us stayed over the weekend, and had a fabulous time.
Tha acommodation 2 X 2 Bedroom Lodges and 2 X 4 Bedroom, were well presented, clean, very well equiped and generally very comfy, although the heating was better in some of the lodges than others.
The site is beutifully laid out and even though there was work going on during our stay, we still took several beautifull walks in and around the site.
The facilities on site are also very good.
The reception is very plesant and welcoming, as are all the staff, the shop is well stocked well merchandised and resonably priced and once again the staff are freindly and helpfull.
We enjoyed the fabulous indoor pool and the gym and my daughters took advantage of the slightly overcrowded spa facilities.
My Grandchildren loved the soft play area and we had several games of pool and snooker in the impressive indoor games area.
However, the retaurant and Bar are totally out of context with the rest of the site.
The staff are miserable and rushed, the managers appear not to care, both the drink and the food are very expensive and several of my party weren't impressed with their meals.
Never the less despite our poor experience on Friday night, we all turned up at 1.25pm on Sunday for Sunday Lunch, and were told abruptly that the kitchen closes at 1.15pm, Having already ordered our drinks we sat a while to drink them then left to make sandwhiches in one of the Lodges.
Whilst we did so a number of people turned up for Sunday lunch and were equally amazed when they were abruptly informed that the Kitchen closed at 1.15pm.
On our first night, the bar was quite busy, but on the Sunday night when we popped in to have a drink after 'eating off site' we were the only people in the place, which I think say's it all.
The staff there really need to be trained up to the standard of the rest of the park.
We have spoken about going to the park again, because it is so beautiful, well run, comfortable, well equiped and freindly, but the restaurant and bar problem is making us think twice.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed your break, lodges and facilities of the park on your recent stay with us at Darwin Forest. We are very sorry about the disappointment we caused in the Forester's Inn by closing early - but thank you for bringing it to our attention. Orders for Sunday lunches are normally taken from 12 noon until 1.30pm, and after discussing this with the manager, he has agreed to extend last orders to 1.45pm in future. Staff training in this area is also being stepped up.

This week we are opening the brand new Explorer's Cafe, which offers a cafe style menu and lunches throughout the day, with last orders at 5.15pm, when service transfers over to the Forester's Inn. This will provide a much improved food and drink offer throughout the day in future.
