After our initial thoughts of it's a glorified shed , the lodge was clean , well equipped bedding , towels ,oven , hob , fridge freezer , microwave , dishwasher , washing machine , iron , ironing board plus enough plates , cups , cutlery , pots , pans and utensils . Another nice touch was the inclusion of washing up liquid , dishwasher tablets and other cleaning bits and bobs.
we booked in the summer along with some friends to go for New Year and my only gripe is that when we checked for last minute details the price had reduced by half so if you are unsure or are looking for something cheaper then my advice is to hang fire until nearer the date and bag a bargain.
We took the dog which meant we couldn't really enjoy the facilities but the others in our party did - free softplay for U5s , pool and the payable little monkeys play area ... useful as the weather was poor while we were there
had a problem with the oven and by the time I had got back from reception , the maintenance guy had already been and sorted it
good for dog walking though - although would suggest a dog friendly café , bar etc

We stayed here for a week over Christmas in a 2 bedroom lodge with hot-tub and had a fabulous time - so much so that we have already booked for next Christmas! We have been before for the odd weekend and have stayed at the sister site at Sandybrook and have thouroughly enjoyed each break. The park is beautiful, well laid out and the pool and gym facilities are excellent. The lodges are spotlessly clean throughout (well done to the cleaning staff!) and really well equipped; there was nothing we found we needed that we couldn't find. I really can't speak highly enough of this park and the accommodation and am always recommending it to people. All the staff you encounter are friendly and chatty and the hot-tub is visited twice a day to be checked/maintained. I did have a couple of minor niggles; the shower in our lodge (and the ones we have stopped in before) is absolutely rubbish and basically just a dribble, so that and the soft water make showering long and laborious; also that we visited the pub/restaurant several times hoping to enjoy a couple of hours with a drink but every table apart from one near the bar had been laid for meals and reserved so we had nowhere to sit. I understand they had bookings for food, especially with it being Christmas, but it seemed that all the tables were laid before opening and reserved for bookings that weren't actually happening til hours later. However, these niggles did not detract from how enjoyable our holiday was overall and we can't wait to go back!

We booked two separate four bedroom lodges for a party of 16 people. We all thoroughly enjoyed our experience here - the lodges were clean, extremeley well equiped (washing up liquid, soap, tea/cofeee, cutelery, dishwasher tablets were all provided).
Great swimming pool, sauna, and mini golf. no phone reception, but wifi worked well in all areas.
ps - One thing to avoid at all costs is the local Shalimar resturant, gave us all diarrhoea!!!

My extended family booked 3 of these lodges for 4 nights last Christmas - meeting up after long journeys. The setting is stunning amongst well grown trees. The lodges were warm, very clean and very well equipped. There was plenty to keep the children occupied while adults relaxed! I would certainly return here in future.

Are you British? Are you in the Middle Classes? In that case you will really enjoy a stay at the Darwin Forest Country Park.
It has everything that you will want (with a couple of minor exceptions, which is will get to later). The cabins are well specified, by which I mean they have the tangible functions covered: good cookers, fridges, shower and boilers: with very effective heating systems. The decor is tastefully bland; comfortable and extremely clean (congratulations to the custodial staff).
But the intangibles are well connsidered too. There are masses of open WiFi access points, and the data speeds are high enough to stream video on demand. The TVs that the cabins are equiped with have multiple HDMI interfaces, VGA and USB inputs. Which is all good.
The facilities are excellent (the fitness trail was a bit bland, but the swiming pool and gym are grand). I would steer away from Little Monkies if I were you, unless over excited toddlers lights your day up. The park shop is fine, but if you want specific liquor I'd bring your own.
The staff are lovely, well up to US standards of professional courtesy.
My reservations are things that lay beyond the park's ability to manage. There is NO service on the mobile networks. If you read reviews that say the signals are patchy they are being economical with the truth: there is no network coverage past the front gate (it's almost magical).
I'm planning to return.

Have just returned from Lodge 21 (booked through Hoseasons).
The lodge was lovely, clean, tidy, spacious and had everything we needed (a few extras were also included)
The park setting was just as nice, surrounded by forest trees and a few lovely woodland walks on-site - lovely scenery!
The only SLIGHT downside was the restaurant on site, we decided to give it a try...very cosey inside and staff very helpful however food was not as it was advertised...they were not home made chips, pudding was 100% not home made and the pavlova for £5 was a disgrace... we are sure they just made this using one egg meringue and some spray cream, this was such a shame as the main meals were huge and very tasty!
I have stayed in many Hoseasons lodges all over the UK, this was by far the biggest park but nevertheless one of the nicest!

Room Tip: we asked for a lodge as close to facilities as possible, this was personal opinion!
