Fantastic site, great location, chalet clean and very well equipped. Reception staff a little on the clipped side, but I guess no one likes working weekends. Was nice to get a discount for there being only the two of us.

Room Tip: Riber VIP two bedroom chalet with hot tub pictured

We stayed in the Woodlands Cottage which is well equipped for a large group with children's cots and high chairs included. The hot-tub was checked 3 times every day and as we had our own private garden we really could relax and enjoy the break. We dined twice at the Foresters pub and had a superb meal on both occasions the food was excellent value for money, it was the best steak I've had in a long time and the service was both fast and friendly would totally recommend. There was plenty to do to occupy the children especially as we had a rainy week! Overall the park was clean, well maintained and I'd certainly come again!

We had a fantastic midweek break here, staying in a Sudbury Woodsman lodge. The cabin was clean, spacious and well equipped, although the children's cots were a bit squeezed into the twin/double rooms and required a bit of furniture relocation.

The site is nicely laid out with a feeling of privacy and there are lots of walks than can be done to sample the calm of the site. The trim track was also a fun way to get some exercise. Darwin Forest is perfect for toddlers as it has a soft play area and outdoor play area, although there is no toddler pool. There is bike hire and tennis on site but not a lot else, so expect to do some driving to entertain the older kids.

All in all this is a great place to spend a few days and I would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Low numbered cabins tend to be nearer the entrance and can suffer from road noise, which is not mass...

We have just returned from a fabulous break at Darwin forest. It was our first time there and had a new lodge with its own spa. When we arrived after the check in time the cleaners were just finishing the cabin. However before we had chance to moan the manager arrived with a bottle of red and white wine for the inconvenience and some free vouchers for the children to play in the on site play area.

The cabin was very luxurious with tv in both bedrooms and lounge and a great rainforest shower in the main bedroom ensuite. The restaurant on site was relatively small but had a good atmosphere and the food was of a very good quality.

The kids enjoyed the pool and games room and the pool tables were only 50p a game which I thought very reasonable. The play place on site is a fairly good size but probably not very suitable for kids over about 10 years old.

The spa with the lodge was great and was exceptionally warm.

It's difficult to find much wrong with the lodge or the park but the only 2 criticisms we had which are pretty minor is there's no mobile signal on site and we had to go to the entrance to get one. Also I was surprised there was no washing machine in the lodge but other than that had everything you could possibly want.

The swimming pool onsite was very clean but maybe a bit small but still had enough room to swim.

We also visited Alton towers whilst there and is a 50 minute drive from the park.

We are already thinking of returning and can't recommend it enough.

Room Tip: Try and get one with a spa, you won't regret it!

Spent a wonderful relaxing break and were lucky enough to have great weather, although we live in Derbyshire we wanted to have a week-end away with our two sons to spend some quallity time together as my husband is ill, so to find this place so near home was a real bonus.Firstly our cabin was was so clean and spacious for the four of us, we asked for a position near facilities and got one. Me and my sons used the swimming pool daily which we thought was lovely and took my husband on some lovely short walks in the woods. All the staff were very friendly and efficient, we ate twice in the Forestors and thought the standard was very high and the staff particularly Barbara most accomodating. Would we return definately

We have just returned from a nice break at Darwin Forest Country Park. It was our first time visiting so we were not sure what to expect. Having been to Centre Parks previously, we were using that as our bench mark.

We stayed in a Skyline Lodge, which had 4 bedrooms. The lodge was spotless, with clean towels. I thought the accommodation was nice and spacious, the showers beds etc were all very good. The walls are super thin, so you can hear everything that goes on, similar to a caravan. It would have been nice for clean towels to have been dropped off because they were never replaced. Do remember to take absolutely everything with you though!

The facilities were nice. It is a much quieter holiday than Centre Parks with not as much to do, but it is half the price. There is a small swimming pool, tennis courts, kids play centre etc. You do have to pay for everything there, but not unlike other places. We had a 2 year old with us and she was constantly entertained. As adults, we played mini golf, tennis, pool etc, if you enjoy been active there are things to keep you amused.

We ate in the Forresters one night which was nice typical Pub Grub. We were expecting something amazing after the great reviews on here, it was just nice pub food. The drinks were quite expensive at nearly £4 a pint of Stella, but double Vodkas were only £2.50 which was reasonable. The staff were very friendly and helpful in the pub they were lovely.

You are so close to Bakewell and Matlock that you can go there for the day or night which makes this location appealing, compared to somewhere like Centre Parks.

Overall really enjoyed the stay. It was a quiet week-end where you make your own fun. Personally I didn't really like all the hen dos and rowdy kids disco at night at Centre Parks and preferred this quieter more relaxed type of a holiday.

I think it is verging on slightly expensive for a week-end break, but other than that, it was great.

We will definitely book again.

Room Tip: We had lots of fun walking down the tim track where there are lots of obstacles like monkey bars and...

We have been several times to Darwin Forest over the years, although we hadn't been for the past four or five years. Every time we go it gets better. We were their with our teenage daughter for a week and enjoyed every minute. We did not eat at the Foresters as we felt it was rather pricey. The Riber Skyline was a lovely lodge and very clean, my daughter and I enjoyed the gym/spa/swimming each day. The swimming pool sometimes was quite busy with young children but for us that added to the enjoyment of it all. We will definitely be back next year and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: We have stayed in the riber lodges previously but would always try and book a riber skyline now as t...
