When making your way there avoid going through Iford, roads are very narrow. We were made to feel welcome by Frances.Shrubdown is very homely.Parking is best by the layby in the road as the driveway is very steep. The room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was very comprehensive with a wide range of cereals and fruit followed by traditional fried fare.Views over the valley were lovely.Freshford is well placed to visit Bath which we found expensive and mostly full up.The train station is a five minute drive and trains are every half hour Mon/Sat. Adult fare is £4.60 returnThere are about 10 car spaces and is free.If eating out in the evening it would be best to book, Fri/Sat is very busy in the local inns.We would recommend The Inn at Freshford. Because our room was located on the ground floor you can hear domestic noise from the kitchen/dining area but it did not trouble us unduly.
