“Nice and clean - amazing view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

I stayed there for 2 nights. The hotel is very small but at the quai directly at the lake maggiore. Very clean room, not big, but the view is amazing. Also the breakfast buffet was very nice and fresh. I can highly recommend the hotel. Really outstanding. And great restaurants very close.

The rooms are modern and nice with lots of space and a newly refurbished bathroom with a tropical shower. You have even a small terrace. In the room, they provide you with different snacks to eat free of charge, however there are no drinks and no coffee machine. The hotel has a very nice pool and spa, breakfast is good and can be eaten on the terrace facing the lake. However, all this does not justify 300 francs per night.

Superb little hotel on the shore of Lake Maggiore. Great lakeside location, seconds walk from the hotel entrance to the water. Boutique style, nicely designed and laid-out, with little noise from either other rooms or the surrounding area. Friendly and helpful staff mean we would thoroughly recommend this.

This hotel is a delight, it is modern, clean, with excellent service from a limited number of staff.
The rooms are large with superb air conditioning, and the beds are very comfortable. The only complaint was that having booked three rooms for our family, one room was incorrect, and two of our family had to make do with a basic double room for one night, when we had in fact booked two comfort rooms and one junior suite, as they had a young child. Apart from that everything went smoothly. As other reviewers have said, the breakfast was adequate and there is no restaurant. That was no problem to us as there are many restaurants in the vicinity. It is an expensive part of the world and we were slightly shocked at the prices for evening dinners.
It was lovely being able to make hot drinks whenever you wanted them. The pool was a bonus, after a long tiring day out in the hot weather, it was refreshing to come back for a swim.
We would definitely go back to this hotel again, albeit, when we have saved up, and would recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: A lake view is preferable, or a junior suite overlooking the terrace.

What a pleasant surprise this hotel turned out to be! With just one TripAdvisor review in the past year and only seemingly available from Booking.com, it came as a refreshing change to find a hugely under-rated hotel tick so many boxes.

We were fortunate enough to have a junior suite, with a patio area attached to the main terrace overlooking Lake Maggiore. The room was spacious, well equipped and comfortable. The walk-in wardrobe provided ample storage, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom had everything you would ever want (including ample lighting!). The TV was a little on the small side, but who goes on holiday to watch TV?

The hotel itself appeared somewhat quiet, despite us visiting in the height of the holiday season. Breakfast was simple without being extensive, yet the real oddity of the hotel is the number of staff that they seemingly employ - we only saw six members of staff in five days! But, the hotel runs smoothly - breakfast is completely self-service, the bar relies upon your honesty and beds are made up efficiently.

With regard to the hotel itself, the interiors are modern and the design is well thought out. The floors are lit, the room key cards innovatively unlock the in-room safes (and provide access throughout the hotel) and the rooms themselves are contemporary. Its a pity the hotel doesn't have its own restaurant, but there are plenty of options in Ascona (albeit with a premium - prices in Ascona are extortionate), just a few metres away.

This hotel is well worth a visit and is far better than its TripAdvisor rating currently suggests. It is an understated retreat right on the promenade in Ascona, ideally placed for boat trips around Lake Maggiore and well placed for pleasant evening walks to local eateries.

A quaint hotel located on the shore of Lake Langen. The check in was quite easy and pleasant. Our company uses the hotel often and think this helps. The hotel is conveniently located in an area with shops and restaurants. Easy 7 is a 1 minute walk and serves really nice Italian cuisine. The hotel itself is nicely appointed and has a great terrace overlooking the lake where you can enjoy a glass of wine and soak in the view. Though I was there on business the hotel was dominated by couples indicating a romantic weekend must be the ticket. The rooms were a nice size with twin beds that can be pushed together. They were clean and had windows that could be open to let the lake breeze…I slept with mine open and it was great with no insects. There is no restaurant in the hotel which means no room service. They do have a typical European breakfast from 7-10am. All in all a nice hotel and would recommend for a short visit.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the lake with balcony

Positives:

- great location - rooms with a view over the lake are fantastic, especially those with balconies
- hotel is in good condition - rooms are all nice and prepared to a good standard
very good multilingual reception staff. Extremely helpful.
- leisure facilities are above what you'd expect. Terrific steam room and sauna. Plus an ample sized swimming pool. And there's a decent gym too.
- tea and coffee available all day (free)
- lovely terrace with tables and loungers. You can grab a drink from the honesty bar and enjoy it with cakes bought from the nearby patisseries.
- terrific selection of breads for breakfast
- complementary bikes to hire (even though they have baskets on!)

Negatives:

- some ignorant families check in here e.g. we were sat by the pool and 4 children came in running a riot, especially 'divebombing' right where we were lounging. Parents just don't care, despite them soaking us each time they dived in. I know there's little the hotel can really do about this - but great facilities are only great if people using them have some respect
- breakfast supplies seem to run out and not be replenished if you're down later e.g. 10am and no scrambled eggs, little cheese and meats left. Though they never run out of prosecco!
- It's complementary wifi but neither our iPhone or iPad could get a reliable signal in our 3rd floor room

Overall:

We really enjoyed it. For Ascona it's a good hotel for a reasonable price. One or two tweaks and luck to choose a time when ignorant parents aren't letting their children run wild and it would be perfect.

Room Tip: Comfort rooms are significantly bigger, for 10% extra price
