Stayed 3 nights with Great Rail Journeys. Evidently the rooms vary a lot in their current state: ours was large, our 3rd-floor main-block bedroom looked recently renovated, bathroom was spacious and loo-with-a-view but not so upgraded: shower was attached to wall at shoulder height only, and tiling a bit of a muddle. Bed very comfortable, good bedside lights, quiet. Good kettle, mugs, choice of teabags (one afternoon we brought home cakes and had ourselves a luxury afternoon tea with mountain view). TV reception iffy - couldn't always get BBC.
No free wifi - only the option of paying serious money for a few hours connection. Disappointing in 2013 in a hotel of this kind.
Our evening meals were on a set-menu deal (though how difficult would it be to offer a little bit of choice, if you're asking for veggie/non-veggie option in advance anyway?), and very elegantly presented. Second helpings were offered both evenings, and welcomed by many - but the hotel says in its blurbs that their portions are small and second helpings available.
Breakfast buffet splendid: self-boiled eggs the only cooked option (but this is continental Europe so that's to be expected), but plenty of ham and salamis, wide range of cheeses, wonderful warm bread and varied rolls, bircher muesli, fruit salad, various dried fruits, etc.
The dining room is a wonderful sight, with huge chandeliers and candelabra on the tables - used both for dinner and breakfasts. Staff pleasant and helpful.
Swimming pool is larger than I expected, with windows all round offering lovely snowy views. Towelling robes provided in bedroom: two little changing rooms by pool/sauna but the shower has a glass door so you're best going back to your room to shower post-swim.
Hotel is only a few minutes walk from the station, in village centre. The hotel's Ski-bar had "acoustic" music as a special feature: amplified monstrously, not to our taste - but Alpenblick hotel up the road had local accordions/sax/bass band playing trad music one night, splendid stuff.
