“Great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012 via mobile

Hi I think this place is a genuin 4 star hotel on a euro standard probably towards the 5 star side , just a word of advice be specific with what room you book and what it has as far as view and bed arrangements if you get that sorted prior I think you will be very happy it has been recently tidied up and renovated. The pool and baths services is 4.5 stars to 5 stars
The staff at first seemed a little under trained but later where very very help full and showed there experience and class .
Over all I will come back, !

We have chosen this hotel for our vacation in Switzerland. The hotel is located in the amazing village of Leukerbad and have a stunning view. The hotel rooms were very comfortable and the staff very helpful. The hotel is a few minute walks from the small village where you can find several small shops and restaurant. The hotel also have beautiful pools (Outdoor and Indoor) which are heated with the natural thermal water from the place. You can also find comfortable saunas and massage services inside the hotel. Perfect hotel for a family stay...

We stayed at the hotel for three days and we loved it. The breakfast was perfect and the swimming pools quiet and warm. Our kids had never spent that much time in water before, it was a wonderful experience for the whole family. The room was nice even if it was a little old but we don't want to complain because we benefited from a special offer.

It was my first time to Leukerbad, it was a really nice little village/town? I was glad that we stayed at this hotel with pool, as we later on passed by the public one Burgerbad and it was so crowded. The pools (one outdoor and one indoor) were both heated so was nice for a cool day. There was a huge balcony in our corner room (biggest balconies are on the 1st floor), so we had amazing views from balcony & we totally loved it. The hotel offered us welcome drinks at their lobby lounge, the bartender was nice. Actually all the staff in this hotel were very nice! *We took the advice from another tripadvisor user to make sure they gave us a room in the renovated building, which was a very good advice.

A must for the thermal canyon walk (which was only like an hour hike) when you are in Leukerbad.

Room Tip: Asked for a room in the renovated building, if you are getting a Superior room with Balcony, should...

We stayed here as a family for two nights and chose the hotel specifically because it seemed a family friendly kind of place. We chose the "family room" which consisted of two bedrooms and a shared bathroom. Perfect for our family of five (three kids aged 6, 4 and 16months). When booking via the website it showed a special deal for the family room comprising room, breakfast and dinner. Seemed like a good deal so we booked it. When we arrived they had set up the extra bed for the baby and had little robes laid out for the kids along with the adult stuff. Very cute and the kids loved it. Pools were great and there were a few other amenities like a playroom and sand pit, swings etc. The problem came with dinner the first night. Seems that the dinner option was only for the adults and not for the kids. This was not specified in the booking so when we were asked to pay for the kids meals we queried it. To their credit, the hotel looked into it and and said we were right, and the problem was with central bookings in Zurich. They quickly resolved the issue for us by taking all the charges off for the kids' food. However, they made it clear that kids dinners are NEVER included in the half board rates which leads me to wonder why they would sell us a "family room" deal and then not include the kids in the deal? You buy the half board option in the family room but the hotel are only willing to feed the adults and not the kids? Bad marketing and really left us with a bad impression. Be careful assuming that a family room, or a claim to being "family friendly" means that the kids are included...apparently they are not.

Also, I agree that the hotel is not quite 4 star standard from a room perspective at least. It has 4 star amenities, with the spa and pools, restaurant and bar, but the rooms are pretty old fashioned and the bathrooms basic if quite spacious.

I give the hotel, a "very good" overall rating for the location and pools. It is decidedly average in some other areas, and they definitely need to treat the kids like they are part of the family and not revenue generators for the restaurant.

We had a very nice stay at Mercure Bristol Leukerbad. Their pools were excellent and really value for money. We did not buy breakfast because we felt is was too expensive and our kids does not eat much. But the pools were used and we also slept very good in the beds.

Reception staff was very friendly and helpful. The room given to us was without balcony (we had a cheaper arrangement from booking.com), small, but very clean. The bathroom redone very nicely. The bathroom robe was very much appreciated in going to the pools, also the bag with the two towels, in case one wished to go to the Burgerbaths nearby. The heated outdoor pool was indeed very pleasant and one did not have to go to the Burgerbad (which is mostly overcrowded) to enjoy the special waters of Leukerbad. Breakfast should have had more hot beverages (they only had sausages and scrambled eggs each day), but was rich enough as a Continental Breakfast.
Internet next to the reception did not work properly, next time I will take my own laptop again.
All in all, the hotel was pleasant, but three stars would probably better fit it, as it was rather average.
