I have been visiting Villars for years, and its one of my favourite destinations for a long weekends skiing. Scenery is amongst the best Switzerland has to offer. There are plenty of restaurants and a few bars.
Having stayed regularly in one of the more expensive hotels in the town, I discovered the Alpe Fleurie quite by chance when my regular hotel was fully booked. It was cheaper, so I wasn't expecting much.
I couldnt have been more wrong!
The location is unrivalled, - Opposite the town's little train station (from where you take a pretty little traditional train up the mountain into the heart of the skiing).
The public areas are nicely decorated and very up together. Sadly the restaurant only opens for breakfast whilst the owners try and recruit a new Chef to their high standards.
The welcome is very warm. Whilst family owned, the hotel is now run by Stephane with his parents support. His professional hotel background is very evident. He and his staff are eager to please.
Impeccably clean, the bedrooms are very prettily decorated and are very comfortable. As I travelled by myself, I opted for a small standard single which was good value and had all I needed. (Apparently there are some 'budget bedrooms' which are larger and are yet to be decorated to the same high standard).
I would'nt hesitate to recommend this traditionally Swiss, well run, small hotel, and I am booked to return soon!
(Oh yes... There's also free WIFI - which is unusual in Switzerland)
