Stayed here a few days for work. Wonderful place. There are sun beds outside, the courtyard is cool and always people around to serve you. It's a tiny little hotel with a fantastic restaurant although expensive $210-290 for a 7 course menu.

Pros:
Overall this is a beautiful hotel, the rooms and bathrooms are a good size, amenities are fabulous, the air conditioning is effective and quiet (!),very clean, the breakfast buffet is excellent, and the views are absolutely wonderful – it is definitely a quaint oasis on the outskirts of Geneva. Their restaurant is also a 3-star Michelin (but note that it is very expensive and you should make a reservation prior to arrival).

Cons:
1) Hotel restaurant is closed on Sundays and Mondays - this is not unusual in Geneva but this also means no room service, nothing, which can be an issue if you are arriving after a long day/s of travel ...unless you have a car ....
2) and, you need a car if you are planning on staying here for more than a one night stop-over...getting around from this hotel is not easy, regional train station is not close by, you can get a taxi but with traffic in Geneva expect to pay around 50 - 60 CHF each way, I seem to recall that it cost us about 40 CHF to get to the main train station in Geneva at 6:00 a.m. The hotel has no shuttle service/driver service of any kind....which is quite ok, but they might want to consider offering guests with no car at least a lift to their sister restaurant "down the hill", at minimum when their own restaurant and kitchen is closed.
3) Welcome and service is not as good as other five-star hotels in Geneva and definitely not what you expect from a smaller and Relais Chateau hotel. We had a very cool reception which unfortunately only got cooler after we complained about being misinformed about what time their sister restaurant started serving for the evening meal. This likely wouldn’t have been an issue at all if we’d had a car and not had to walk down/up the hill in sweltering heat after long travel ...and if the first response to our complaint upon our return to the hotel wasn’t “you must have misunderstood”. Note that we are first language French speaking ...okay not the same accent but I think we can understand whether a restaurant is serving or not ...specially that we specifically asked before we set out on foot (and yes, they knew we were on foot). To their credit however, when we asked to speak to the manager on-duty she was very nice and quickly arranged for us to have cold meat/cheese/salad plate – which was fantastic and on-the-house. But overall we couldn’t shake the feeling that we were now “problem” clients.

In the end I would still refer the hotel as it is a beautiful location and our room was very nice – but I would caution to take note of our comments ...we should have taken heed of a previous reviewer’s recommendation to have a car instead of relying on the hotel’s website which implies that it is easy to get to Geneva – yes easy if taking a taxi but slightly expensive.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the Rhone

My wife and I recently stayed one night at the Domaine de Chateauvieux before departing for home from the Geneva airport. The hotel is a Relais et Chateaux property and is accordingly very expensive. The building was originally part of the medieval Chateau de Penney. We booked our stay at the last minute; and so, we did not have the hotel's best view out onto their own vineyard. However, our room was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was modern. The shower was in the tub, commonplace in Europe. But, because the tub was so narrow and slippery, this seemed like 'an accident waiting to happen'. The A/C was not central, nor was there a window unit. It was plumbed into the sink and made a lot of noise when the compressor came on. Closing the bathroom door was the solution to this odd problem. We enjoyed good service for our hotel needs but distinctly poor service at the restaurant, which is overpriced even by Swiss standards.

There is a really excellent facility in 'Suite'. The deco of room is outstanding. We all like the table and sofa in the room that have nice quality. Specially, There are two chairs in the room. I like one of it put on second floor that is comfortable. I think the only problem is you need find the way to hotel if you take train from Stingy.

The Domaine de Chateauvieux Hotel and Restaurant is a hidden treasure about 15 minutes outside Geneva. I have often been to Geneva for business and this was my first stay outside the city. What a pleasant surprize. It was so nice to leave Geneva in the afternoon and return to the Chateau which sits in the middle of a wine vineyard overlooking the Rhone River. The staff and Chef Chevrier made us feel like that Chateau was our private residence. On the weekends, with the expection of the restaurant patrons - which were abundant - we really felt like the whole Chateau was our home. From the Cigar lounge with its private collection of famous world cigars in a humidor room to the bar, restaurant, epicurie shop, and hotel rooms, The Chateauvieux is a perfect way to feel like you are on a very special vacation while in Geneva for business. Chef Chevrier is rated #3 in all of Switzerland and eating in the restaurant is "the meal of a lifetime." My boss is still talking about the meal we had. Also, Chef Chevrier has a small cafe called Cafe de Peney down in the village and a river dinner cruise that he operates - all first class.

The rooms are immaculate with Wifi and self-controled A.C. units. You can also walk the property and discover the Chef's herb garden which he uses in all of his dishes. You will feel very special and more like royalty than a hotel guest staying at Chateauvieux.

Access to the hotel is easy. It is close to the airport and the hotel provides a complimentary metro pass (rail/bus) that is good for your whole stay. They will also arrange a proxibus to pick you up and take you to Satigny train station every morning so you can arrive in Geneva in about 15 minutes for the work day.

If you are taking your loved ones along, this is the place to stay. It is like taking an unforgettable vacation - and only you will know you are there for business.

Will stay here from now on when I am in Geneva for business.

  • Liked — Proximity to Geneva without feeling like I was in the City
  • Disliked — There was NOTHING not to like. The staff and owner make you feel like it is your home.

I had a very short unplanned stay at this hotel. I had booked a room for one night at an airport hotel in Geneva as I was flying in one evening, had a meeting in the airport the next day and was leaving again immediately. There was some confusion with the booking and the airport hotel organised (and paid the extra) for me to stay in this hotel and arranged for a taxi to same.
Not having any idea where I was going, and well tired at that stage I was not impressed but got a very pleasant surprise when I arrived at the hotel and was shown my room, The room was beautiful, really comfortable but with character also. The bed was really comfy and the mini-bar was well stocked with drinks and snacks which I appreciated after 2 flights.
I got an even more pleasant surprise when I woke up the next morning and saw the view from my window - I was surrounded as far as the eye could see by vineyards and the countryside was just stunning.
A brief stay, but a very welcome rest and somewhere I would recommend for a visit. Having said that, it is a bit far out in the countryside to use for a city break but for someone looking for somewhere quiet it is ideal.
