Overall this is a beautiful hotel, the rooms and bathrooms are a good size, amenities are fabulous, the air conditioning is effective and quiet (!),very clean, the breakfast buffet is excellent, and the views are absolutely wonderful – it is definitely a quaint oasis on the outskirts of Geneva. Their restaurant is also a 3-star Michelin (but note that it is very expensive and you should make a reservation prior to arrival).
1) Hotel restaurant is closed on Sundays and Mondays - this is not unusual in Geneva but this also means no room service, nothing, which can be an issue if you are arriving after a long day/s of travel ...unless you have a car ....
2) and, you need a car if you are planning on staying here for more than a one night stop-over...getting around from this hotel is not easy, regional train station is not close by, you can get a taxi but with traffic in Geneva expect to pay around 50 - 60 CHF each way, I seem to recall that it cost us about 40 CHF to get to the main train station in Geneva at 6:00 a.m. The hotel has no shuttle service/driver service of any kind....which is quite ok, but they might want to consider offering guests with no car at least a lift to their sister restaurant "down the hill", at minimum when their own restaurant and kitchen is closed.
3) Welcome and service is not as good as other five-star hotels in Geneva and definitely not what you expect from a smaller and Relais Chateau hotel. We had a very cool reception which unfortunately only got cooler after we complained about being misinformed about what time their sister restaurant started serving for the evening meal. This likely wouldn’t have been an issue at all if we’d had a car and not had to walk down/up the hill in sweltering heat after long travel ...and if the first response to our complaint upon our return to the hotel wasn’t “you must have misunderstood”. Note that we are first language French speaking ...okay not the same accent but I think we can understand whether a restaurant is serving or not ...specially that we specifically asked before we set out on foot (and yes, they knew we were on foot). To their credit however, when we asked to speak to the manager on-duty she was very nice and quickly arranged for us to have cold meat/cheese/salad plate – which was fantastic and on-the-house. But overall we couldn’t shake the feeling that we were now “problem” clients.
In the end I would still refer the hotel as it is a beautiful location and our room was very nice – but I would caution to take note of our comments ...we should have taken heed of a previous reviewer’s recommendation to have a car instead of relying on the hotel’s website which implies that it is easy to get to Geneva – yes easy if taking a taxi but slightly expensive.
