“Excellent hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012 via mobile

I was very pleasantly surprised by the decor of the hotel as well as the rooms. Great atmosphere and great ambiance. Could not have asked for a better hotel. Staff were also very good. Breakfast was good though not too much selection. Overall this was a geat experience and I will be back

10 minutes walk from the tram going thru EPFL, this hotel is really great for people who like the modern style. Size of the room is large with really good comfort. Beds are really great with nice linen. Audio dock for your MP3, large shower, bathroom offers all the modern things you need. The place is really quite, perfect for long rest ! Breakfasts are really good, food at the restaurant as well. Prices are quite high but it is Switzerland. Lausanne downtown is around 30 mn by tram.

Room Tip: All are good ! Ask the ones far from lift and the main corridor.

This is just to say that overall this hotel is nice and the restaurant has great cuisine although the food is quite costly, but this is the case all over Switzerland.
The downsides are that there is a shuttle for hotel guests but only early in the morning and at the end of the afternoon.
A shuttle for downtown Lausanne would be great. It does not have to be free, but it does cost 25 Swiss Francs by taxi. And the hotel is quite far from any entertainment. I felt "stuck" in my room because of this while my husband was at meetings.
ALSO: the walls of our room were scratched and stained. There was even a printed hand on 1 wall, obviously made by someone who had read the newspaper. They should have used a better quality paint and they should clean up the prints on the walls.
ALSO: The maid told us not to leave the tip for her in the room as the maids' manager "takes" the money she finds in the rooms. Very strange...
Bizarre.

Room Tip: The rooms with a view of Lake Geneva (Léman) are great, except they are over the receiving area and...

I stayed here for two nights and whilst the hotel is very clean tidy, and almost brand new, it does have some downsides.

Firstly it is about two miles from Lausanne, so unless you are visiting the university it is too far out of the city.

Secondly it is very expensive a standard meal in the restaurant, plus a couple of drinks was over 60 CHF and don't even think about touching the mini bar unless you've just won the lottery !!!

Additionally it seems to have a dual role as a conference centre, and on my final night the restaurant and bar had been taken over by Ernst and Young and therefore it wasn't possible to get a drink and remember my first point about how far away the restaurant is from any other bars !!!

The staff were friendly, not the quickest service and the breakfast was nice, with a chef cooking fresh food throughout.

Nice and new Hotel. The rooms are quite small but clean and good equipped. The aircondition is noisy and it is difficult to get asleep while it is turned on. The Restaurant is expensive and the food average. Breakfast is over all ok. The view from the Restaurant is nice, sea- and mountainview when the weather ist fine. The problem is that there is no life around the hotel. No chance to walk somewhere in another Restaurant or a bar. Everything has to be doen by real expensive taxis. Advantage: free shuttle service to and from the train station

Room Tip: Dont stay close to the elevator

If you work next to EPFL and if you have the budget (300 CHF per night), it's the best. But, depending of the saison, the price can be less expensive.
The hotel is new (2010) and the rooms is tall and comfortable.

Please note that the restaurant is little bit expensive (breakfast at 20 CHF, dinner...40 CHF)

I think that Hotel is a good choice if you have to spend a lot of day-time at EPFL. The room are confortable but not too large. The staff is very nice. Breakfast are good but, probably, a little bit poor!
