“Friendly atmosphere and perfect location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

The location of Hotel du Glacier is perfect: short 5-minute walk to the main ski lift and literally 10 steps away from heart of the village. Our family of 5 stayed in a Mischabel suite with two bedrooms and a large living room. It also included a small balcony, bathing in afternoon sun. The staff was very friendly throughout our stay. We made several small requests, all reasonable, and they were all handled right away and with a smile. Breakfast was tasty, with good selection. Cannot comment on dinner, as we ate out every night. Which was easy, due to central location of the hotel, and reception also helped making reservations for us. Only negative detail, and it's a very small one, when checking out they advised that there is a deposit of 20 CHF on room keys, each. (And we had 5 keys...) As such, a reasonable demand, but it would have been more fair to inform us upon arrival. Luckily, we still had all the 5 keys.

Room Tip: Mischabel suite was great for a family of five.

Hotel centrally located in village, close to shops, restaurants, bars and Alpin Express cable car.
Hotel electric taxi picks you up on arrival with your luggage from the edge of the village, car free zone.
Luggage delivered direct to room, skis and boots taken straight to ski locker room - thanks to Ralph the porter.
Staff very welcoming and friendly, part of check in is a welcome meeting where all the hotels amenities and advice on the surrounding area was competently explained by Sabrina.
Rooms are spacious with all the usual fittings, watch out for the feather pillows which can be slightly uncomfortable, extra pillows are available on request.
By far the finest point of this hotel is the food, breakfast is buffet style with almost everything you could want, fresh salmon everyday! Cooked breakfast dishes are available on request. Evening meal consists of 4 courses, the quality of which is outstanding. Each course having at least 2 choices.
The hotel has a spa, with jacuzzis, saunas and steam room, now in true Swiss style the dress code in the spa is - well there is no dress code! However, swimwear can be worn, but you do have to divert your gaze.
For skiers/ snowboarders Ralph and his taxi can be arranged to take and collect you from the ski lifts if prearranged, free of charge, but to be honest the nearest lift, Alpin Express, can be reached walking in 3 - 4 mins.
I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for a stay in Saas Fee.

My family and I have stayed at Hotel Glacier many times over the past few years. The hotel has large enough rooms to fit our family of 5 comfortably and with a bit of "living space". The breakfast is very good and plentiful and the hotel has free WiFi - which has always worked without problem. The staff at the hotel are all very friendly and helpful and strive to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. As Saas-Fee is a car free resort - you will need to take the hotel "taxi" from the parking garage - They are very prompt in arriving to take you and all your belongings to the hotel (the most I have waited is 5 minutes). The jacuzzis are also a relaxing way to end the day on the slopes. The hotel is a very close walk to the Alpine Express (5 minutes) - which is the quickest way up the mountain to ski - and it is not too far a walk (about 10 minute walk) to the Felskin lift (where you normally meet for lessons) - There are places near both lifts where you can leave your skis and boots for a very nominal charge (nice not to have carry them each day). Also, the hotel is very centrally located in town near 2 grocery stores. My only complaint about the hotel are the pillows are not very fluffy - which is why the sleeping is rated average. Saas Fee is beautiful and I would recommend you travel not only for the skiing but also for hiking in the spring, summer and fall (and you can feed the marmots (groundhogs) carrots- which my boys loved). This is a great place for a family vacation that truly helps you escape from the "real" world.

Our trip to Saas-Fee was an interesting journey.....in St. Gallen so drove to Luzern then thru the mountains in snow to Spietz, then a train to Visp then a bus to Saas-Fee with a ride that everyone should do once or maybe twice in a lifetime. The electric carts to the hotel was simply another aspect of the journey!
The hotel is clean, quaint and friendly. The service was wonderful. The rooms are spacious and they accomodated our daughter on a pull out couch. The breakfast was extensive and typical Swiss but with large coffee! The restraunant located in the hotel basement is fantastic and steak cooked on a wood fire is a must.
The skiing was a true swiss alp experience and unfortunately despite lots of snow (too much one day for safety and winds one day to close the top of the mountain) we only could ski two days. So...if you go....it is a journey....stay at least three or four days due to weather or you maybe disappointed with skiing due to the variability of weather. We could have tried to ski Saas-Grund which is a short free bus ride away.
The village is wonderful with lots of great places to eat within a short walk. Pubs are wonderful and we were there for carnival so a great experience.

Room Tip: We had a one bedroom unit. Spacious Internet worked well which was a surprise! They accomodated ou...

I stayed there last weekend with a couple of friends. The hotel and rooms are comfortable and the service is excellent as you would expect from a Swiss 4* hotel. The wellness centre is great with 3 individual jacuzzi's, 2 saunas and a door to the outside so that you can dive into the snow after building up a good sweat - a secret that we shared with other guests! The breakfasts and dinners were excellent. However, the hotel was not busy during the week we were there and the restaurant was closed so we were asked to dine in the next door 5* hotel :).
Only minor complaint is the bar could do with a makeover as it lacks a bit of character.

Room Tip: Good value, centrally positioned hotel with great jacuzzi's

I had two couples and two friends in my group and we all loved the hotel and Saas Fee. Especially the free lift tickets
which we used extensively. The only minor complaint that I have is, that the WFII did not work in any of our rooms. We had to go to the hallway to use it.
I would come back another time.

Hotel Booked through the Warrren Smith Ski School Academy. Rooms are nice and a bit more spacious than a normal hotel. Service is excellent and the staff are extremely friendly and very efficient. We ate with the ski school and the food was very dissapointing and being in a room apart from the main restaurant was not good. Bar is very quiet but it was the off season and the resort in general was also quiet. The main restaurant food and choice did look good.

Room Tip: Try to book a balcony room overlooking the glacier. Stunning views.
