“Great location and very quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

Our family stayed here for 5 days including Christmas day.
The room was very spacious with our 2 teenage boys having a room each and there own door
out to the balcony.
Mika at the front desk was very very nice and couldn't do enough for us.
The breakfast was great, and they cook your eggs to your liking.
The only down side was that we were the only ones in the whole hotel, which seems great but
very quiet with no one to chat to, we cancelled christmas dinner as wanted to find somewhere
with some people , some atmosphere and a lit fire.
They did say there were more people coming in the next week.
In saying that we would definitely stay here again as the location was fantastic, also providing our own ski storage room near the slopes, with pick up if we wanted free of charge.
We loved Saas Fee and cant wait to go back, its not too busy!!

First, we LOVED Saas-Fee.

My husband and I booked online the night before. I read other reviews that say employees of Marmotte picked them up in a from the parking lot, but we had no idea how to arrange that. We hauled our luggage up and down hills until we found the hotel (we were a bit "deer in the headlights" after getting off a 1.5 hour bus ride from Brig! We had no idea what we were in for!)

I assume hotel Marmotte is reasonably priced compared to all the other hotels in Saas Fee. You pay per PERSON, not per room so do not be shocked when the internet rate says 90 frank but you are charged 180 frank.

The owners speak very good English and are very cordial.

The room, linens and bathroom were all very clean. Great view of the Alps from our room. And great location right next to one of the main lifts.

Breakfast was included which was nice, but once the clock hits 10am, breakfast was over. We arrived late at night from London and our watches were not set properly (we didn't realize there was a time change and there were no clocks to be found) so the next morning, we came downstairs for breakfast as one of the employees was cleaning up and there was no attempt to offer us a quick plate or even a coffee. :-(

Since we got in so late (9pm, which is late in Saas Fee) the woman at the reception area let us have free wifi for the evening which was very nice and very considerate!

We stayed for just 1 night and then opted to find a week long apartment rental through the tourist office for 560 frank, total for 7 days. We did not need daily breakfast or room cleanings - for the most part, we are just not "hotel people".

I give Hotel Marmotte a "good" rating and not "excellent" only because I felt like the employees didn't go out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcome.

It was my first time in Saas Fee. The rooms are quite nice. Very hot shower which is really good even in summer. But the best is the breakfast. Jam is really home made, croissant are warm, the cheese is good. In fact there is not a lot of choice but everyrhing is fresh and very tasty.

From the moment we were picked up at the parking garage to when we were dropped back off several days later I was truly impressed by the facility and the personnel of the Marmotte. The decor is what I was hoping for... A little bit nostalgic and certainly the Swiss Chalet that I'd hoped to see. Add to that the warmth of the front desk manager and the attentativeness from the restaurant and housekeeping staff and there you have it! The perfect place to stay.
I would certainly recommend this casual and comfortable hotel to those who are looking for a relaxed atmosphere and super locastion to the slopes.

Ulf is a very good and helpful host. Good breakfast with meat, eggs, bread, cheese, cereal etc...settting you up well for the day. Clean functional rooms and relaxing wellness. Nice early updates on snow conditions at breakfast, with lift status and road conditions. Very good value, especially for Switzerland where prices can be eye-watering elsewhere. This was our second trip to the hotel and would return again.

The one issue I always have with Saas-Fee (not directed at the hotel) is that the lift company shut down their operations at the slightest sign of bad weather....

We came to the Hotel Marmotte sight unseen, and were delighted with our 8 night stay. There were 7 in our party, and I think everyone shared our enthusiasm. The staff was anxious to please, and were helpful in answering all of our questions, as well as making suggestions about hikes, etc.

The food was very good, especially the breakfasts, and the soups at dinner. Our room's carpeting was in need of replacement, but other than that minor complaint, we were incredibly well taken of. Our best compliment to the hotel: We all plan to return!

The hotel is in a perfect location, very calm, nice view. Everybody was very nice, at the restaurant our children could have a special menu and the spa was a good experience. Moreover the "ALL INCLUSIVE offer" with the tickets included was perfect for us.
