“First-time visit to Saas-Fee”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

Stylish touches everywhere in this centrally located hotel. Attention has been paid: From the understated, soothing color palette and furnishings in the room to the fresh choices on the breakfast buffet. Plenty of soft, fluffy towels and very effective light-blocking draperies when you want to sleep in. Staff most helpful for someone (a non-skier) who knew nothing about the village and wanted to see a lot of it. Visited the well-curated art gallery on the street level, a real surprise in a town with such a reputation as a ski resort. Good value for money.

Room Tip: Stayed on fourth floor -- very quiet and bright.

The hotel is very central to Saas Fee, we actually walked from the bus terminal with our luggage but could have called for an electric car. The Alpin Express ski lift is further away -probably 10 mins walk with ski equipment, but the staff drove us there the first time with our equipment and picked us up later. Very usefully the hotel has a ski/boot room near the bottom of the lift to leave your stuff and heat up your boots - much easier than dragging everything back to the hotel.
The room was as expected of a 3-star hotel, very clean, large enough for 2 people, and a nice balcony. Bathroom was also large and fully equipped.
The wellness area was a pleasant surprise, it is actually in another hotel (Europa) but connected by an underground tunnel. The hotel provided robes and slippers for the chilly walk. There was a whirlpool, steam room, sauna, relaxing area, and a naked zone with another steam room, sauna and set of showers. When we visited there was plenty of space and lots of clean towels to use.
Breakfast was freshly prepared eggs of your choice, and then the ususal cold meats, breads, cheese, jams, juices, yoghurts and a coffee/tea machine. Plenty to fill up on before skiing.
The staff were very helpful, one even bringing his own cold medicine to me when I started to feel ill. Friendly and chatty.
The only negative was the double bed which was two singles pushed together (although the other furniture in the room meant that it could never be a twin room). The mattresses slid apart at the slightest movement which was quite frustrating, and one of us usually ended up sleeping in the gap in the middle.
Overall a very nice hotel in Saas Fee, would recommend.

We (a couple) recently stayed at Hotel Artemis in Saas-Fee. The hotel is located in the car-free village of Saas-Fee. If you call ahead, the hotel will pick you up from the bus station (or other location) in their electrical car, saving you the hassle of lugging all your luggage to the hotel.

Pros about staying in the hotel:
- extremely friendly staff who went out of their way to help guests. The staff helpfully drove us to the ski rental location (Egginer Sports), which gave us a 15% discount for our affiliation with the hotel. The staff also helped with figuring out the schedule for the bus to Visp and then the onward train journey to Zurich. They were constantly offering to help and were extremely friendly.
- rooms were warm and toasty, bordering on too hot! But no worries, you can just open the door and let in some of that crisp mountain air in.
- the bathroom was small but had a heated towel rack - it was so great to have a warm, toasty towel after a long day of skiing
- fast internet which was easy to connect to (you just have to get the passcode from the front desk but the connection was very good)
- good breakfast with bread, meats, cheese, yogurt, coffee, juice, lattes, etc.
- the hotel allows you access to the spa at the Hotel Europa, which can be accessed through an underground walkway. There is a hottub, sauna, steamroom and relaxation room. There are towels on-site. The changeroom seemed clean and well-maintained
- we stayed on the 3rd floor which had great high ceilings made of wood - it truly felt like a Swiss chalet experience

The cons:
- the beds were two singles stuck together, and were on the small side, and the pillows were a bit lumpy
- the price (over easter weekend) was a bit pricey at around CHF 240 per night

Overall, the hotel was very good, and had a cosy feel. The staff were exceptionally helpful and really made the experience enjoyable. The hotel can store luggage for you and arrange for a shower at the spa if you check out in the morning but ski all day before travelling. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Stayed here for one night. We originally had booked the Hotel Marmotte but were told that we would have to stay at the Artemis (they belong both to the same owner/group). This turned out to be a welcome upgrade. Room small but functional. Good bed, flat screen TV. Bathroom maybe a bit too small, but is OK. Location is good - very close to the parking at the entrance of the village. Breakfast buffet small but good quality. Would recommend to stay there.

The service at this hotel is outstanding with all the staff going out of their way to be 100% focussed on guests' needs. They were all very friendly and informative. My quibbles are with the relative poor value for money, but this could be more a reflection of peak season prices in an upmarket Swiss ski resort. At nearly £200 a day the rooms are disappointingly plain, the bathroom small, there was no lounge other than the reception area and the dining room drab and functional. Breakfast was basic - adequate but uninspired. The 'half-board' set menu evening meal at the adjacent sister hotel the Marmotte was very good and by Saas Fee standards good vfm. The hotel was spotless, it is centrally located (inconvenient for access to the nursery slopes) and the standards of service are compensating factors.

Stayed here in August 2012 and I have been trying to find something negative to say about it ever since! The only thing I can think of is that it is a long way from the nearest Waitrose. Otherwise everything was perfect. Superb location, good quality rooms, excellent staff, good breakfast and, important if you are staying for a few days, free train and cable car pass. We will probably stay again in 2013 or 2014.

The hotel Artemis is nicely located in the village of Saas-fee. About 5 min from the train station and 5 min from the Alpin express. The hotel can pick you up at the bus station with a little electrical car (saas fee is a car free village), which is very convenient. Very convenient as well is the ski local right next to the Alpin express. No need to carry your skiing gears every day. And you can warm up your ski shoes, which is a nice luxury.

The room of the hotels are nice: quite big, cosy (not very modern, but otherwise it would not be a mountain atmosphere). The bathroom is also nice but very small. The balcony with the view on the mountains is great. From the hotel you have access to the spa of the hotel nearby. The spa is nice, especially after a full daty skiing. The only thing that is a pity is that they don't offer you any bathrobe to go there. One guy of the reception told us to take our bathroom towel, but at the end we discovered that there are plenty of towels on site.

The breakfast is delicious: very tasty bread, homemade marmelade, fresh products from the area, all this with a nice view on the mountains.

Our stay there was almost perfect. The only problem was the staff that we did not find very helpful. And we did not expect this due to the other reviews. There were friendly, but often unable to answer our question. We asked them to book the bus for us for the way back, they answered :"no problem", even when we asked a second time if everything was all right, and at the bus station we discovered that absolutely no reservation at our name was here... It felt like no boss was around and all the employes were a bit lost... But we anyway enjoyed our stay and would still recommend this hotel.
